Good afternoon all :thumbright:

Now I have found the model area of the forum #-o I know a lot of us collect models, so I thought I would share my build of a new storage cabinet of sorts' with you all. The wife came up with the idea, of making a multistory car-park effect to display them.

Ive looked at glass cabinets, but there not cheap and the area I want to use is not a odd shape , pictured

I want to build something like the uploaded picture, :thumbright:

All the cars I have collected all mean something to me, I will post a picture up of then one at a time see if you know what they are, Not too difficult most are TV / Film related from my past ;)

Hope you find i interesting

Iam a pencil and paper man when it comes to drawing something up, but one of the clever chaps at work drew me this up. Am going to put the concrete pillars all in line when I build it

To see whats its going to look like :thumbright:

That will be really good when its done. A great project! Like most of us, I made models when I was a kid and I remember making bases out of wood for them. I stumbled over some old cork tiles and discovered they were great for replicating tarmac. I only had grey primer so all my bits of road were grey with yellow lines.

Will you be detailing the car park or keeping it simple?

Cheers Steve

Thanks for the tarmac tip, :thumbright: I will however be trying to recreate concrete, and yes I am going for some nice detail almost diorama look

Today s car I have this one because

This to me is the most beautiful car ever created, :plymouth: that and the Cannon Ball Run :rr:

As you can see I'm not loyal to any make of model of car

That will be very impressive when its done. I like really simple, minimalist or the opposite end of the spectrum, really detailed and accurate. The inbetween stuff isnt my thing.

I recently made a very simple router table. Its very good for putting detail into plain wooden shapes or recreating I beams etc. You may have inspired me to try something over the Winter for the models I have tucked away in the loft.

Like you, I have very broad tastes in cars. I loved the Lambo when it came out but never saw one in real life until years later at a show somewhere. I love Eastern Block classics and my neighbour has even got me into vintage tractors and cars from the 40s etc. Citroens are a favourite too. My heart is still with all things American but do appreciate lots of other stuff.

Cant wait to see how your project progresses

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

This one started my collection and one of my faves :plymouth:

I cant remember the name of the film that car was in but I remember watching it when I was a kid and was scared by it...bit of a demon car. Great model :thumbright:

Excuse my ignorance but are your models ones you have made from kits or are they ready assembled? My collection (in the loft at the moment) are all ready assembled.

Cheers Steve :thumbright:
