@Dave mentioned this before, I think these came from Brisbane taxi. The axle is more heavy duty than standard.

The pipes are pretty rough so getting rid.

Does anyone know where my engine came from? It's a 318 but not original. Paperwork suggests it arrives in the UK as a Slant 6.

Blast from the past!
The axle is an 8.75, 742 centre section with 4.10s and a clutch type lsd. Spring perches inboarded for the VE tubbed rear but might have been redone for the VF if not tubbed.
Extractors were Hedman. I fabricated the drivers side to fit RHD, a labour of love! Not sure what's going on near the collector on the passenger side.
Exhausts were just some pipe bent up at Pipecraft.
Post a pic of your engine.

Thanks. It's great to have a bit of the backstory.
Here's the engine.Image

Definitely looks like some of my old engine. Are the motor mounts solid? That's not the carb, is the alternator a Denso? looks bigger. Does it have an MSD Dizzy? Can you pull the crank in and out about 1/2 inch?

It's with Dave Billadeau now so I can't answer all these questions. He mentioned your name as a source of info.

The carb is a Holly.

Dave just took out the pistons. One of them is an odd replacement. He reported that otherwise it is pretty much stock.
