Hi. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on makes of fuel tank? I am torn between the Liland which is galvanised and the Dorman which is not.I am not concerned about originality as I have had the car over 30 years and just like to keep it nice and on the road. I am swaying towards the Liland but only because its galvanised although the leaky one has probably been on there since 1968..Any thoughts would be great ta.

and try to keep any standard clamp ring for the sender from the old tank... if you are swapping

Cheers for that. One more question Rockauto do not have the filler pipe to tank grommet, Over the years ive used several different american parts suppliers, just wondering who most fellow enthusiasts recommend. ta

When i bought my fuel tank from Rockauto it unexpectedly came with the filler grommet but i had purchased some spares from Megamopar usa.

Interested to follow this one. I recently changed my fuel tank and put in new sender unit etc (hoping it fixed fuel gauge. It didnt !) and since then it doesnt quite seal properly somehow. Filler on a charger is high, so the pipe fills with fuel on a tank-brimming. If I brim the tank it now leaks - so I have to fill it and burn off a gallon (not hard). I didnt used to have to do this - so my conclusion is the sender-hole is weeping or something. Its on the job list... so curious to see how you go with this.

As Dave says the metal sealing ring supplied with new senders generally seem to be made from thinner steel than the original ones.
Therefore it doesn't seal as well. If you kept the original one it might be worth checking it's gauge against the new one.
And you have make sure the sender is dead concentric in the hole or it will leak.
That's what i found on ours at least, where the sender is up on the front face of the tank.

Thanks again for everone's help, I have ordered galvanised tank and straps {should have arrived yesterday} did'nt ,but to be fair I only ordered it saturday, I will let you know if it comes with the filler grommet. Merry Christmas.

Ah ! Right, adding to the xmas 'crawl under it' list... Gotta couple of jobs to do.

Tank and straps arrived yesterday[very quick] couple of corners are bent but hopefully it won't leak, the filler grommet is not included unfortunately.
