The plan is once the plugs are finished build molds and create carbon parts.

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

Next up I’m using a special high build pattern coat primer which will allow me to build up a thick layer and sand back.

This is supposed to be applied with a special cup gun as its so thick but there expensive. So I just applied it with a brush like I was fixing a roof leak on grandma shed ...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

I was really struggling with low spot so decided to paint everything with a white primer to use as a guide coat.

This will basically be my Bananarama! stop sanding coat as I found in some area I was starting to sand into the 3D printed PLA plastic

Not as much texture as I wanted but I have enough hours in now, I can live with it. Decals to add as a finishing touch.

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

The vacuum then sucks all the excess resin out the part in to the cloth and pulls any air out the resin leaving a better surface finish/better layup

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

Then poor man’s vacuum chamber !!!

4x for £10 :D and I have used the same bag over and over

Make no mistake these bags pull so much vacuum with a standard house hold vacuum cleaner they would crush a pint glass and are on par with commercial setups.

My first test part basically imploded it ...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

While these cost around £20 in material there are very flimsy and worried the molding process could deform them.

Ideally I should reprint but after 2 weeks of printing I’m committed now lol

Remember these are just the plugs.

Moulds Will be taken from these and then from the moulds real duct ...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

Using a cheap £250 tiny 3D printer we split the ducting up in parts that would fit in the printer and using cheap PLA plastic printed plugs
