Re: Shoulder belts

Hope these are of some use Dave... (the 69 Plymouth should already have the necessary fixings up behind the headlining so you should be able to ignore the info relating to fixing those anchor plates) Those look like the same ones as "Seat Belts Plus" sell. Which are on back order from the...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

I have now been right through the whole braking system. Just need my wife to help me bleed the buggers and check for leaks. Discovered the flared ends of the pipes at the master cylinder are particularly sensitive to being over tightened. My first attempts leaked. I had to use less pressure when fla...

Re: Shoulder belts

Trying to get my head around all this and not doing well. I am going to have to do some research and figure it out somehow.

Re: Shoulder belts

Drew is looking into these for me. https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/3-6870-B-Body2BU.html?fbclid=IwAR0vFM5PJcKJO0k_II-N807Ac-r8JB_VExpq-r5P_MwcG7wYSB_p9En6ElQ But currently the website says "Not available at this time". But they would be ideal as you don't need all the clips and thing...

Shoulder belts

My 69 Plymouth B Body came with lap belts only. I assume there are threaded holes for shoulder belts and clips under the headliner but I'm having trouble finding them by feeling with my fingers. Anyone got a diagram showing the location of them? Also has anyone got a pair of shoulder belts spare I c...

Me too. But too big.
It was 9mm. Common on modern cars. Must be what is on these Chevy brake callipers these days.

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

……..except I can't strip the front brakes because the callipers are held on with what I assume must be 9mm hex head screws and I have everything but in my tool collection....

Ordered a 1/2" drive one from Amazon. Arrives tomorrow.

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Quick update. Slowly making progress. I found two of the torque converter bolts were loose. Non of them had thread lock on them. They have now. Both accessory belts were too small. But I found that the belt on the alternator and fan was actually the correct one for the power steering pump. So just n...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Right. Nothing wrong with the brake plumbing it has been done correctly. \:D/ So I will bleed the lot when I'm ready and just see what's occurring. Lots of fluid around the proportioning valve so possible leak there. It might not be centred or something. Plenty of time to sort it out. :thumbright:

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Worth checking that the master cylinder is plumbed the right way round. Large chamber at the rear should feed the front brakes. Yes it was something i looked at and to be honest from memory I am not sure if it is right at the metering block or not. So i will be consulting a workshop manual diagram ...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Just an initial impression, and it may be the camera angle, but that lower balljoint to knuckle bolt doesn't look fat enough. Something to check when you look at the brakes ! Maybe it's OK though. I agree it does not look big in the photo but yes it's good and fat as the original E/B-body bolts I h...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Got any more photos Dave , especially of the adaptor bracket, and the rear of the caliper ? Is your pad actually scraping on the disc bell ? Is that a wheel spacer I see on the hub ? Is it necessary for clearance ? cheers Matt Photo showing the mark where the pad is scraping and why it has a wheel ...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Blimey that shim's not very well is it ? Is your pad actually scraping on the disc bell ? Is that a wheel spacer I see on the hub ? Is it necessary for clearance ? cheers Matt Pad is just very very slightly scraping the disc bell. But from your photo it looks correctly placed so maybe just a bit of...

Re: Dave's 1969 Plymouth

Well the starter motor bench tests perfectly. I just gave it a clean through to make sure. Intermittent problem has to be electrical so I will check the wiring from the battery +ve as it seems to splice out. It could actually be a poor ground connection. I realised when taking the header off that th...
