Re: Blue's Barracuda

Popped the top off the paint this morning and realised the colour was way lighter than it was supposed to be  quick dash to the paint shop for another go and it’s all good. Interior colour matches the door panels and its body colour in the boot. Glad that jobs out of the way it’s been bugging ...

Re: Rob & Stu's 69 Sport Satellite

Most people agree that lifters now need more preload than they used to. One of the reasons for that that I’ve heard is “new” lifters start off as used cores which are refurbished. I’ve never found Hughes information to be incorrect so far, so I tend to follow it. Personally I would snug all the rock...

Re: Rob & Stu's 69 Sport Satellite

40 thou preload isn’t enough with modern hydraulic lifters, also Hughes don’t recommend heavier than 30 weight oil. Wade through this, http://www.hughesengines.com/Upload/productInstructions/camshaft_instructions_Dec23.pdf I suggest a lack of preload and possibly too thick an oil is the reason for t...

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Rear number plate mounting looked wrong to me withe the plate obscuring the number plate light. Turns out this bracket is only used on the 73-74 cars with impact bumpers, 70-72 cars don’t have it. The use of a license plate frame with only upper mounting bolts needed an adaptor plate making.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Sorry Dave not taking on any new work for the foreseeable, I’ve already committed to enough to keep me busy for the next year. A proper rewire (soldered not crimped) doesn’t half consume the hours.

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger

Bit of warning light action. Low oil pressure warning light, tucked out of the way but in line of sight, shift light disguised as a clock blanking plate, and a charge/ ignition light as the Denso alternator has provision for it.
