65 New Yorker C Body windscreen fitting video

I couldn't find a video anywhere on how to do this on a C Body, in my case a 1965 New Yorker, so here goes, I made one in case it helps anyone in the future. The two professional fitters did not mind me filming them do the main steps. As these skills may die out as people retire I thought it might b...

Rear lights conversion video 65 New Yorker

Hi all, Although there are loads of car maintenance vids on YT some things that would be really useful for older car owners just do not seem to be there. I did one on removal/repair of 70's a VW Bus wiper mechanism for example and loads of people have watched it, same goes for sill replacement. At t...

Where to get Exhaust box for '65 New Yorker

Hi everyone, Anyone have any idea where I could get a bog standard exhaust box for my '65 New Yorker in the UK? Pic of the old rusted-through one attached with dimensions. Thanks John https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/Md5wOx6MLKoPk35PWESS8h_ei98hmGOm6VB3eyTtiKo9UkZJNE2yNv9Dojd_alaGAqrkEKLGGwI0SbVtCB...

Windscreen fitter South Wales?

Hi everyone, Screen has arrived from Peter Jones for my '65 New Yorker. I have a new rubber surround too plus new trim clips. Not cheap. A bit too expensive for me to just crack on and have a go myself - what could possibly go wrong? - Well quite a lot actually! Anyone know of someone with relevant ...

Re: Advice please on possible car buy

Thanks for the advice. Screen on way via Peter Jones, rubber gasket via Rick Ster and managed to obtain some clips for the trim plus a local fitter willing to do it. Will keep ignition stock for now while I do more pressing jobs, although am fitting a solid state voltage regulator, new HT leads etc.

Thanks for the advice. Will leave that job for later. Brake flex hoses and power steering pump are next.

Re: New car arrived: 1965 New Yorker

Thanks, I probably will. Although I live in South Wales I am originally from Leicestershire, quite near Birmingham. Job list so far: 1) Need a screen surround (screen on the way from US) for a start ! 2) Have nearly finished the wiring woes / ammeter bypass. Bought the only available clear-lens rear...

Re: Melty wires to Ammeter

Thanks, will definitely put a fuse in there. Powered the dash up today, indicators worked, headlights worked, without any smoke. However I had replaced the indicator flasher relay with one of the solid state ones that flash on a fixed time interval. The indicators worked for a few seconds and then j...

Re: Melty wires to Ammeter

Thanks for the advice, doing something along these lines, taking pictures as I go. Have dissected out the whole front loom in engine bay and from bulkhead up to ammeter so I can get my head around what is meant to be going on. Have isolated the ammeter. Alternator now runs to big connector on top en...

Re: Twisted steering pump

I think I have worked it out, twisted pump mount is a common problem. Pump needs to come off anyway as leaking fluid everywhere I think from the big O ring seal, also a common fault. Better than an oil leak though I suppose.

Twisted steering pump

Hi all, Have just acquired a '65 New Yorker with a 413 engine. When I look down at the steering pump, the pulley seems to be at a slight angle relative to the belt (see photo). The mounting and brackets for the pump seems to be fine, nothing broken, no bolts missing. Also some evidence on hoses in t...

Re: Melty wires to Ammeter

Thanks for the advice, I have read that article and in the process of bypassing the ammeter. At least the whole loom has not melted, just the section from the short back to the bulkhead. Have unwrapped the entire engine bay loom too to work out if anything else melted, seems OK surprisingly. Only ot...

Melty wires to Ammeter

Hi all, There is always a reason someone sells a car or stops using it. So, I have probably just found out why the '65 New Yorker I have just obtained seemed a bit too good to be true. Was investigating wiring around steering column with a view to converting my reversing lamps to yellow indicators a...
