Re: My very last restoration!!!

The turds virtually ready for colour now
The shell is pretty much perfect and probably the best unmolested 70’ F body anywhere,
I don’t think I could have done anything more to make it as corrosion free and corrosion resistant, it’s better protected than a submarine!
Looking forward to the next ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

I’ll have the shell transported to my place of work
I’ve a very large low bake booth,
Get it in on a Friday morning, get it completely masked etc
In colour Saturday, back home Monday!
Bit of a faff but worth the trouble

Re: My very last restoration!!!

Well the Turds stripped and I’m now almost ready to start painting the inner floors and trunk area ,
The trunk would have been typical yank splatter ,
Which is pretty shoddy so I’ll refinish it in body colour,
The inner bulkheads front a rear and the full centre section of floor were always left in ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

Didn’t need to test fit the rear duck tail as I’ve already done that awhile ago,
The nose is in epoxy, I used the new Silco type but it’s a slightly different shade to there 2k
Once it’s all stripped again, I’ll refinish the shell inside and in the boot area etc,
While the general construction of ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

So probably the last boring update on this saga
for awhile!
It’s all now in 2k , I’ve tweaked the rear screen filler panel a tad and a couple of over small bits,
I’ve completely blocked the sides again and it’s virtually ready to be pulled apart for paint,
Once the doors are horizontal on the panel ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

Haha that’s the whole thing with old cars, there supposed to be fun, never taken seriously,
Which I just as well given the dramas my Turd has caused me
The latest episode is the Endura Front nose,
Absolutely doing my head in, I’ve totally stripped it,
Blasted it completely, degreased with the ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

Think that’s very sensible given the current state of the market,
The Fred in a shed type of restoration has always been a labour of love type of thing,
But this has always been the only way older normal cars can realistically be restored,
Full body and paint now is 10’s of thousands, mechanical ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

The lower front panel is a second hand one I acquired as my original had so rust through on the underside
This replacement has suffered previous accident
And sits a bit Bananarama! on the right side,
So this will require a bit of faking but nothing serious,

The amount of work is actually ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

The turd is now in 2k primer , still got the hood to primer and still shaping the Bull nose ,
But not far off now !
\:D/

The primer is a mid priced product by Silco
M8 , i suspect the slight sheen is the result of Styrene being present,
It lays down nicely and over fully cured Epoxy it’s very ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

So following a good old blocking session last Saturday I’ve actually now started the primer stage,
I’m trying out a new twist on 2k this is apparently a hybrid 2k and has some kind of epoxy additive so it dries with a proper sheen,
I guess in a decent workshop one probably would appreciate the ...

Re: My very last restoration!!!

Virtually finished the gapping now , just the nose panel to finish off, this is being a right pain, stripped it twice and twice it’s moved and cracked after about a month?
Tried two different epoxy’s neither worked,
I’ve been trying to follow guidelines from the US but obviously I can’t get the ...
