Re: anti freeze/coolant

For coolant flush I use Citric acid, buy from ebay in powder form. Very searching for rust, use plain water to flush out. Your choice on strength but does remove rust from Iron and Steel, mix some first and test on rusty bolts if not sure. I run the motor for 20mins to get it hot then leave for a da...

Re: 69 Super Bee resto finally started.

Martin,

Nice to hear from you! Apparently there are a few Bees with a "Hemi", some are just clones though, built for boy racers, So I am told.

Pete,

Not an A12 car unfortunately, however it did come with a Six Pack in the boot, Block is trashed though, need one soon!

Spike.

Re: 69 Super Bee resto finally started.

Pete, It is in fact a "Post" car or "Coupes are for chickens" car. I think total production was about 7000 in 69 and hope to be corrected. I was told that these cars are a stronger shell due to the post and as such many were lost due to racing, probably whilst drunk. It sounds fe...

I have had this car for a while now and finally got around to getting the body repaired. Car is a 69 Dodge Super Bee that I had shipped in from South Carolina. Car was born as a 383 four speed but after some digging to find the original motor found that the car was delivered with a 440 from the deal...

Re: Compression problem

All depends on what is the cause.
A slightly bent valve could go for miles but a burnt seat could really upset your day, and by the looks of that spark plug what we feared has already happened and I would go for a burnt seat, especially if it has not got lead free seats.

Pull the heads.

Re: Does this engine sound right to you?

The above does make sense as to why it will tolerate 44 degrees of timing, on modern fuel this is massive. Try a compression check, that could tell you if its a low comp motor as clearly not burning oil so bores are good. But honestly, do it now. My comments are from looking at plugs from a lot of e...

Re: Does this engine sound right to you?

My two pennyworth, Looking at that plug it is getting too hot, possibly due to timing or even weak fuel mix, IMO its only the fact its a quality plug that has held things together. Is the heat range correct? check if there is a coloured band around the base of the electrode insulator, if there is th...

Main bearings for 440 oversize

Does anyone have the part numbers for Oversize main bearings for a 440 block? I have tried emailing King but no reply. are there any other manufacturers? By Oversize I mean bigger on the Outside Dia not Undersize for smaller crank journals. I have found someone with the equipment to line bore a 440 ...

Re: Hemi HT Help.

Well, while you guys have been having a very interesting debate on what to use where I have been repairing what I have. Now don't get me wrong, I can see the passion for the marque but cannot see the sense in being broken down on the side of the road when the Mustang owner is offering to lend you a ...

Hi Dave.

What is the dimension of a smidge now we have gone metric? Is it still like a Fag paper or larger? Brexit may have an effect on this!

Re: Hemi HT Help.

Dave. They all look good particularly the zetec ones as these would seal against the valve cover. The NGK caps are no go, we have some of these in stock at the shop and they sit so low that it is difficult to remove without longnose. I also thought about using a rubber end from a donor like the Zete...

Re: What is a 440 block really worth?

Hi Pete, Thx for the info. Block is back from an acid dip and all the plugs are out. Initially it looks like a disaster but on closer inspection all is good apart from the main saddles are corroded so will need a line bore with oversize shells (best start searching) , bores look like a 30 over will ...
