Also be wary of hydraulic lifters these days Dave. I bought a Comp cam .510 lift kit and the lifters supplied were not up to the job. It took me ages and a lot of money before sussing it out and putting it right. They wouldn't rev past 5000rpm

A cast crank BB will have a damper double the thickness of a steel one, maybe youve been lucky and your motor didnt need a balanced converter

I had a Knock (Detonation) display on my GTR which was very handy at showing the difference between various pump fuels. In my experience with it, bearing in mind it was a few years ago I found the Shell Premium fuel to be the best (producing least detonation) followed by the Tesco 99 and then the Es...

16 to 18 should be fine but make sure your not over the 35 mark all in. Have you a vacuum can on the dizzy by chance? If so plug it up and disconnect it and give it another go. And if you haven't done so already, check that you haven`t got any other little ports on the carb or the manifold open to t...
