Re: Engine Vibration
Poly Trans mounts are by far and the best, but - you have guessed it - they are the most expensive and you have to use the housing from your old mount to retro-fit it in... Would poly bushes transmit vibration too? that is why I had bought a standard one. Frying pan into fire comes to mind. I...

Re: Engine Vibration
Update I have now fitted the module too and she is running a lot better. I still have the vibration so today the misses kept the revs up and I had a feel around to try to narrow down the area, It seemed to be around the rear gearbox area. So I removed the bolt from trans crossmember to rear rubber m...

Re: Engine Vibration
I have followed the instructions to the letter this afternoon Dave. Luckily my balancer is marked up as needed which helped. I also have a Vacuum gauge fitted all the time as my good old Dad did but not a rev counter  . Anyway I have about 18 bar vacuum on tick over too. So I will have to wait ...

Re: Engine Vibration
Okay I spent some time on this today. The timing has been set at 8* for as long as I can remember, so I tried taking it up to 14* to see and it was not bad seemed crisp on throttle response too but did not like the vacuum pipe plugged in. I then dropped it to 12* and still not happy, so now I am bac...

Re: Engine Vibration
I have noticed the left mixture screw does not make much difference to the tick over if screwed right in, but does get unhappy if wound right out thou. The only thing I have not changed is the ignition module now. Usually a sign you either have a fuel leak from the carb into the engine OR don't hav...

Re: Engine Vibration
OK, so I had a bit more time on this. I had a mechanic friend come round on Thursday, on the premise of turning over the engine so I could remove flex plate bolts. I wanted him to try turning it, without me having told him what I thought about it being tight. The first thing he said is "christ ...

Re: Engine Vibration
Tight engine that wasn't tight before? but the car was T-boned or rear ended?? a motor with 2 cylinders down vibrates horribly.... unlilkley to do with impact but worth checking, its not nice with one not firing but a couple not firing act as a dead weight in the cycle and will have it rocking abou...

Re: Engine Vibration
Ok, it's been a while since I updated this. I haven't had the inclination with all the Bananarama! with the insurance. So I wanted to check the harmonic balancer to check it has not moved (long shot I know) It has been a while since I have had to turn the engine by hand to find the timing marks and ...

Re: Accident that wasn't your fault?
When you say Brentacre have put you on to the solicitors, have you contacted Brentacre since? If you are getting no joy from the solicitors after this amount of time on an open and shut case, I think I’d be going back to the insurers to get them to raise some hell, if you haven’t already. It’s them...

Accident that wasn't your fault?
I was sideswiped in my '71 Challenger on Sept 4th, the other party admitted liability and I have dash cam proof it was entirely their fault. I just wanted to see what experience other people on here have had when claiming through Brentacre if at all. I am not dissing Brentacre at all but the solicit...

Re: Engine Vibration
That sounds like a nightmare, sorry to hear that. How come you are having to source the parts yourself? Never had to claim on a classic, thankfully, but when I’ve been taken out by someone in my daily, it’s off to an approved insurance place and the insurance peoples problem. I am trying to sort it...

Re: Engine Vibration
Am I right in saying you got hit by someone recently? If so, shouldn’t this all be being taken care of by the insurance company? Ignore me if that’s wrong. Yes it has been since the accident but I have to find the problem first. It's been 5 months and I am fighting useless solicitors supplied by Br...

Re: Engine Vibration
You seems to have checked & verified a lot of the main causes, one thing I can think of & assuming it’s auto is the flex plate, possible cracked, broken. I have turned over the engine by hand and looked at the flex plate and cannot see cracks, Also I have had a crossflow ford with a cracked...
