Re: Power steering - no return

Had problem with air leak in hydraulics. Did vacuum test and found leak down in pump and cross threaded pressure pipe on steering box ally fitting. Strange that no fluid leaks. The air couldn’t bleed out and was causing pressure lock on steering return. Also, my cheap bubble gauge thing was telling ...

Re: Power steering - no return

Thanks again Dave. All ball joints low mileage and flickety free. Off the pitman, it’s free as a bird. I did change (again) the idler arm as wasn’t happy with fitting in ears. New one has the ‘washers’ integrated with the spinny centre but is much better secure no wobble fit. It is a tad tighter bei...

Re: Power steering - no return

Cheers Dave. Power assist has never been a problem. It’s a one finger on wheel light and I have no problem with left/right power balance. I replaced seals in the federal pump due to reservoir seal leak last year. Also manually checked the valve operation in the pump body, ‘felt’ ok. No external leak...

Power steering - no return

Chaps I have issue with no steering return. Power steering feels assisted when driving. Got about 3deg + castor after much messing. Engine off and wheels up, manually pushing road wheels left to right is very tough. Have to push in stages to move and feels like I’m fighting fluid pressure somewhere....

Spark plug read request

Gents, need help with plug reading. Whatcha got. Done about 50 miles on these new plugs after lots of standing idle tweaking. Mostly 1000-3500rpm local street driving with prob about x5-6 5sec bursts of ~50% throttle. Initial timing @25 which is the best spot for vacuum and sweet idle without gas sm...

Vehicle recovery best choice

Hi chaps,
After a poor experience with the 3 letter company, which recovery club do yall recommend. 2 classics and 2 dailies. Good Recovery would be my priority. Cheers

Best parts source?

Looking to start some recommissioning on my old bird. Been a while...
Where are peeps getting parts from these days? I’ll looking initially for consumable type bits. Fuel tank, master cylinder or seals, brake bits, body panels ..yada yada. Many of familiar names seem to be gone now?
Gracias

Ade, no afr meter, just tracking blm etc on laptop off ecu. Mostly voodoo to me, but I believe blm count should be bout 128 for proper afr. This is hitting 140-155 (leaner) and ican see some knock counts coming up under pretty low load. From marks link it looks on rich side but with that brown patch...

Just to close this off....replaced with new diaphragm and sucks and shoots fine. Still can't see a fault with the one I replaced, so maybe it was summit else that resolved itself on refitting.  :thumbright:

Plug reading please

Chaps,
Any views on this plug by the 'expert plug readers' amongst you? Done about 1k miles. It's from a chewby small block. Seeing some pings at mid revs on mid to hard throttle., computer telling me it keeps falling on weak side of afr.
Thnx
