So sad to read this, I can't add much to what has been said already but I'll really miss this lovely friendly knowledgeable man.

Remember it isn't the chroming but the polishing that is usually the problem. If your're reasonably competent and have enough time get the chrome removed then file, sand and buff it up before you just let them rechrome it.
