Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

So it turns out that what I thought was from my first Charger was actually from the one I have now and consists of the dash harness and rear harness. The harness from my first Charger could be in the loft but there's not much chance of finding that anytime soon even if it is in there. Maybe l did ch...

Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

Thanks Dave, When I got the car it had a modern type fuse box and was just a basic setup. The car was either used or going to be used as a race car but I still have the complete wiring harness from my first charger that I bought in 2003. The dash harness had melted so I went the Painless wiring rout...

Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

Dave has shown an excellent example o how to go about it. I put the Challenger dash in a separate room with lots of space and even had a 12v Battery there with a test clip to prove each individual circuit off as I terminated it...Slow and Steady.... He has indeed Pete and it shows how very involved...

Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

I would make my own, but wiring is my background. Mechanical is my background and I wasn't much good at that. I did a TDi conversion once on a T4. It was a lot of work but I figured it out in the end and it took me a long time if I remember correctly! I think I need to decide what's more important....

Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

I remade my Charger's loom completely front to rear using what was left of the original and the factory diagram. Easy enough when you break it into its sections, rear lights, A post to rear, A post & dashboard to bulkhead. Then I did the under hood wiring in situ as that was completely knackere...

Re: Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

I made a complete Challenger R/T Dash loom from the bulkhead plug back when it caught fire... It was an A/C Car with lots of options, so a lot of fabrication and testing... I used the original Loom as a template. Would you say that it was worth while Pete or would you buy a ready made one in the fu...

Remake wiring harness? Good idea or not?

Has anyone remade their own wiring harness using the original to copy from? Remanufactured harnesses are very expensive so I thought maybe I could buy new cable and connectors and make my own. Is it worth it after buying all the materials and spending many hours making it or should I just forget it ...

Thank you for sharing your photos Derek.

It looked like a great turnout and I hope to be there next year with a couple of cars myself!

Re: Part restored Charger value?

Cheers Steve. I nipped out about an hour ago to pick up my youngest from work and happened to bump into my nextdoor neighbour that came out to help me the other night. He thinks I handled things fine and couldn't have done things any different. I know I could have obviously but what he said really h...

Re: Part restored Charger value?

An all round awful situation to have to deal with Matt. Reasonable force is very subjective. Its all about your honest perception of threat level at the time and it sounds like you did just enough to deal with the situation and no more than necessary.....perfect. Drunk people are notoriously diffic...

Re: Part restored Charger value?

Thanks Steve, The reasonable force is where I was very unsure of my rights. After the situation it was obvious to me that of course you can shove somebody back if they are in your personal space in a threatening manner and although I did push him I didn't do it enough. He would stay close, less than...

Re: Part restored Charger value?

Thank you so much Steve. Some very wise words there that are very helpful to me! I kept telling myself to stay calm and perhaps I was too calm. But if I had been more aggressive and tried to make him leave he may have gone from threatening to violent. I tried my hardest to keep him at bay without ag...

Re: Part restored Charger value?

Thanks Morgan for the kind words! Had a bad day today but feeling a bit better now. I'm putting my son's MK2 Scirocco back together at the moment after bringing it back from the dead and it's slow going as it's hard to concentrate. If it wasn't for this car I probably wouldn't have been as close to ...
