Re: Gen3 swap - just general chat

Aw I love a full Dave reply. Its been too long... Nah - dont want to cut it about. I think the concensus is "Pull it. Cam and maybe rings while out. Sniper + ignition combo. Let it sort its life out". I totally love the rolling road "its a race engine what do you expect" and the ...

Re: Gen3 swap - just general chat

Thanks Colin. Yes, I think its the way to go - just got to decide if I calm the rest of it a bit first.
I suppose there is no harm in doing it and then seeing if its OK. Worse case it comes off while I do the oily bits then back on.

Is that Richs old Charger in the red ??!?

Re: Gen3 swap - just general chat

Morgan speak with the guy ( on here who now owns my old Charger )he’s gone down the sniper route with it and last conversation I had was there was a big increase in fuel consumption- reliability and better performance. Although I’m running a Chevy block these days this is the direction I’m also ser...

Totally agree, unless you want more gears and a wider Cylinder head, and a shed load more complexity.
No. Your hemi-in-a-challenger clearance stories have scared me enough.

Re: Gen3 swap - just general chat

Fitting a Holley sniper is likely to achieve your goals for a lot less money and effort. Well that was 'planA' - I even had one in my basket on my last trip to the US. The trouble is that *may* fix the smell but what I didnt want to do was go down that route only to find I still need a refesh and a...

Re: Gen3 swap - just general chat

I had noticed people are quieter on the transmissions. Not much info out there. The engine doesnt need to cut anything about, I am guessing the trans might - and I dont want that. So it would be a factor. Power I have, I cant fault that. once you've wound it right up. Its almost like it came out of ...

Gen3 swap - just general chat

Just chewing some stuff over... Anyone done one yet into a b-body ? I know it will upset the purists but I've actually got no real issue with the idea. I'm chewing over what to do with mine is all. I'm just sort of thinking once you start down the road of a refresh and making a few subtle mods to ca...

Re: anyone doing much driving in your mopar?

Friends lad asked me to do his prom - obviously agreed. Got struck down with the Covid this week and prom-lad obviously upset as he's told his mates he has a charger taxi. In steps a pal and staight after work jumps in my charger, drives it 50 miles each way to make sure lad get prom ride. Smiles al...

Saw 1.89 here…

My gas and electric was 139 in November.
Then went to 199. Yesterday they put it up to 323.
323 !!!!! ?!?? I mean wow. No switch deals either so it’s a ‘suck it up’.

Re: anyone doing much driving in your mopar?

Feeling very guilty about 3 months of neglect I actually started the old gal and took her for a run yesterday. Cured the 'thunking' (loose torque conv bolts - doh!) and she ran great. Funny story - just coming off local bypass. Stopped at roundabout to my right was a police van just pulling onto rou...

Oh my god. I've been absent for a bit and I'd missed the one about the battery-in-the-fuel-tank.
No Will, that seems fine; I mean why WOULDNT you use an envelope of explosive fuel to cool a source of chemical ignition ?? :drunken:
