Re: Annoying rattle from brake pads
I just took this video, which shows the inner pad seems to have too big a hole for the pin, so it moves back and forth. Not sure any of the springs or positioners I've seen would stop this?: https://youtu.be/zPHqV4CsRts Edit: I think there might be a bushing missing. I'm thinking I might just squish...

Re: Annoying rattle from brake pads
Thanks for all that Dave! At least I know I can get the springs from RockAuto without the pins. I found someone selling the postioners on eBay, and although they're more expensive than the ones you linked to, they did provide a diagram of where they go: positioner.jpg ...still not sure they'll stop ...

Re: amber light bulbs
When you say 'two lugs on the bottom', do you mean double contact?
Also, what size bulb, as there are a few different sizes?
Maybe have a look here:

Re: Annoying rattle from brake pads
Yep, I could buy the same kit (a bit cheaper) from my supplier, OER, but I don't want to spend that much when all I need is 2 of the springs!kma176 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 21 1:43 pm could be these missing www.521restorations.com - search :- cal 1960

Re: Annoying rattle from brake pads
Andy. Have you got the anti rattle springs on the pins that go through the pads. I'm not sure exactly where they would fit, but no, I can't see any springs. I can see that springs are supplied with rebuild kits etc., but can't see where to buy them seperately, if that's what I need. IMG_20210422_20...

Re: Annoying rattle from brake pads
Thanks for the replies Dave, I'm not particularly worrying, just find the noise annoying! Yes they are new disks etc, as the old ones were badly scored. I doubt they are warped, having had warped disks on an old Mondeo, which felt horrible. I found the part number on the back of the caliper, they ar...

Annoying rattle from brake pads
This has been happening occasionally since I had new disks and pads fitted a while ago, especially on the right hand side, but is now happening more on the left hand side, and is getting more annoying! The inner brake pads seem to be rattling around every time there's a bump in the road, and making ...

Re: FBHVC clarifies the introduction of E10 petrol for historic vehicle owners
What about the old Standard - "Vpower"??? I used to use v-power, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that it now contains ethanol. The only reference I can find on their website is: " The RFTO target is typically met through the use of bio-derived ethanol in petrol and Fatty Aci...

Re: FBHVC clarifies the introduction of E10 petrol for historic vehicle owners
That's Esso Supreme 99. It's what I use: " Although our pumps have E5 labels on them, our Synergy Supreme+ 99 is actually ethanol free (except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area, Scotland and NW England). Legislation requires us to place these E5 labels on ...

Re: No internal combustion by 2030 - FBHVC response.
I think we're all agreed that hydrogen or a similar technology can and will be an important factor in the future - even the National Grid's response to the recent govt announcement covers it: https://www.nationalgrid.com/stories/journey-to-net-zero-stories/our-response-governments-new-10-point-green...

But then Norway is the land of hydroelectricity, electricity is about 7p a kwh and around 15p in the UK. In fact this was the first year that electricity went negative and people where paid to take it. :D https://norwaytoday.info/news/did-norway-really-pay-residents-for-using-electricity-yup-heres-...

Re: No internal combustion by 2030 - FBHVC response.
Electric charge points are literally everywhere now in the UK, Well - sort of. But its only really playing about and virtue signalling by local councils and companies. There are what maybe 2 in a car park ? To get 20 (30, 40, 200 ?? ) the infrastructure investment will be mega - just the feeds will...
