Re: Big Red and Loud
Glad to hear it’s alive. I remember there being quite a fuss after a certain accident/incident at one point

Re: 1967 Dodgy Coronet
Nice how the pic of the highest spring setting has the car upside down, as that’s where it was headed in the first fast corner!

Re: 1967 Dodgy Coronet
Been doing loads of stuff on mine, probably the most trying, but satisfying and eventually easy to do, was adding and subtracting leaves to the rear springs. I initially fitted a very heavy duty pair of Add a leaf/s to the spring set and reduced one stock leaf. That left the car way too high at the ...

Re: Modern fuels and spark plug colours
From what I’ve read since I posted this thread it seems that the traditional approach to monitoring spark plug performance by colour has been made largely redundant due to the way new fuels burn.
That said, if it’s claggy, covered in oil and don’t fire, yer motors still knackered

Re: Alternator wiring
It’s more spendy, but I can highly recommend a solid state voltage regulator for your set up. My 67 Coronet despite new battery, alternator and VR would barely charge and the VR took a dump soon after. Fitted a solid state regulator and now have 13.5 volts at idle. Really improved the running, at on...

I always enjoy reading your stuff, Stu, and having a beer and chatting about it when we can.
I feel we’re kindred spirits, bashing around at these old cars, getting advice and improving them. Neither of us experts, but definitely trying to move forward and appreciating the advice given.

Modern fuels and spark plug colours
Hi all, been hooning around in my 360 Coronet. Motor is pretty stock with Petronix ignition, ROM Performer inlet, Eddy 600 and 340 manifolds. Checked one of my plugs today and it was almost white. I’ve read that modern fuels make the old plug colour charts redundant, but white seems a bit lean to me...

Stu, I know that feeling for sure. Been driving the heck out of mine. Just spent an hour sorting a new silencer underneath using exhaust parts from the corner of the garage

May not apply, but on my Coronet I replaced the old VR with a solid state version. Night and day change. Charges at near 14 volts. Really chuffed with it.

Re: Engine mounts
Maybe...there’s multiple threads out there, but it depends on what you have. I recently took the mounts of a B body 318 and used them for my 360 motor. The passenger side was a easy swap, but the drivers side needs a simple spacer made up as the lugs on the engine are narrower than the mounts. On th...
