Re: 1970 Challenger grill
To quote Paul Herd, Barracuda and Challenger restoration guide. Page 132-133 . "In 1970, Dodge introduced the Challenger, and its grille design was a single piece design with a small cross-hatch pattern that was painted flat black. On the base Challenger, the frame was painted dark gray and on...

Re: Floyd Brothers 70 Challenger
Don't want to be picky but you should have left the leading edge of the grille and the area around the mesh unpainted. Unless it's damaged?

Re: Grille restoration
Excellent job as ever, Dave. That really was a belter of a car, lost track of it now, where is it these days? Question on the stripper, did you scrape it, rough it off, or what? I’m finding that gentle scraping is eating into the metal, but using a rough pad isn’t getting through the 26 layers of h...

Re: Engine Vibration
Okay I spent some time on this today. The timing has been set at 8* for as long as I can remember, so I tried taking it up to 14* to see and it was not bad seemed crisp on throttle response too but did not like the vacuum pipe plugged in. I then dropped it to 12* and still not happy, so now I am ba...

Re: Engine Vibration
I have noticed the left mixture screw does not make much difference to the tick over if screwed right in, but does get unhappy if wound right out thou. The only thing I have not changed is the ignition module now. Usually a sign you either have a fuel leak from the carb into the engine OR don't hav...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade
Apparently the parachute mounted below the jetpipe caused a lift of 2000lbs and he has been advised to mount the chute above the jetpipe where it will only generate 32lbs of lift according to students looking at it at the University of Leeds. So you have to be really sure of these things. I'm just w...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade
Just to make you worry again about the parachute launcher... Did you hear about what happened at Elvington with Dave Tremayne in the Stay Gold jet car? On a 250mph test run he deployed the chute which up to then (at lower speeds) had always worked well. As it deployed the rear of the car suddenly st...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade
This is SO interesting. My "feeling" without any access to the types of computer modeling available to you is that the chute could initially (depending on airflow and pressure over your own back, engine, and the chute itself) pull up on the rear wheel around 25-30 degrees before settling d...

Re: return to the mma
Thanks for dropping round my house in your 2012 Challenger yesterday Trev and telling me off for not answering your PMs on this forum. :D I don't think I have been on here for nearly a year?
