Gatornationals Fri 15th March

Only went on the Fri & Sat. Unfortunately we didn't make it there on either day before 10am so we missed the Sportsman classes. I get the impression that the NHRA see Sportsman as an inconvenience at Natioanal events as they didn't get any track time between 11 - 5 (except on finals day). Still,...

To be honest those pics are quite representative of what was there. I didn't bother with pics of the bikes that had 2 tons of Taiwanese chrome on them. I must admit i liked a few of the 'plainer' black ones that were on display by the trade stands. And the ones with the massive (26") front whee...

Daytona Bike Week (well, just 1 day)

Having flown from LA to Orlando we spent the thursday at Daytona before driving up to Gainesville. Mainly because Mark who was with us has 2 Harleys and was looking for some spares. Couldn't believe how many bikes there were on every road within about 10 miles of the beach. Probably 95% of the bikes...

Bakersfield March Meet Sun 10th....

...Was a lot warmer. About 70 deg F i guess, but the stands didn't seem as busy for some reason. Lots more cars in the show n shine, plus had another look around the swappie. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a596/stew440/US%20Trip/Bakersfield%2010th%20march/P1090295_zps4f096f0a.jpg http://i1285.p...

I was surprised how many cars were kept outside. Some didn't have motors, some were chained to the ground but I did read recently in Mopar Collectors Guide that a finished 65 Beledere that was for sale, was stolen off the 'lot' and driven into a tree, totalling the car. Despite that it does seem one...

The absence was mainly due to the lack of t'internet at home. Being a tight git and having access at work I got by. And my 'secretary' was helpful if i did have anything to post on the MB. (Cheers Rob) But my kids need it now for school so I've signed up. They probably know more about computers than...

Bakersfield March Meet Sat 9th.

Pics from Saturday 9th. Temp in the mid 50's but thankfully dry after the thursday & friday were all but washed out. 2 day ticket $55. Show n shine plus swap meet and racing. As Wolfman said the swap meet was disappointing, more aimed at the Rodders. Loads of rusty original tin, Schwinn bicycles...

Not 'arf Pete ! TBH I was looking forward to this as much as the 2 main events we were going for. And he was such a nice guy, loads of stories. He didn't seem too bothered about getting back to work. He's started doing his own engines & transmissions now, having been let down by his previous sup...

Bob Mosher Musclecars - brief visit.

Seeing as we were in the area (ish) i contacted Bob Mosher a week or so before our visit to ask if it was ok to look around some of the cars he had in the 'shop' (Monrovia, a few miles west of Pomona). He limits his work to 62-65 Bodies - mostly Max Wedge & Hemi restos / recreations. though he d...

Bakersfield March Meet, Gatornationals and more.

My mate Paul Mander decided to 'celebrate' his impending 50th by booking a trip to the US (he seems to go most years anyway), and seeing as we didn't do anything for ours (Rob & I) i thought i'd tag along. So Paul, myself, my good friend Andy and Paul's mate Mark from the RAF volunteers (sorry i...

About time..

.. thought i better say hi. Been a voyeur long enough, but I've got a few pics from my US trip to Bakersfield & the Gators (plus a few other distractions) to share. So I'll post them in the Events section. It'll give me something to do over the next few evenings. Too cold in the garage anyway. C...
