Totally depends on the engine spec Rich, but as a generalisation, yes. Above that you need to be thinking of improved oiling, bearing clearances, more oil capacity. Not to mention lighter pistons, better rods and best quality rod bolts.

7500 rpm is asking for trouble on a big or a small block unless you've got some good aftermarket parts in there. You guys must be running some serious camshafts to still be producing good power at that sort of engine speed.

I believe the X pipe gives the better flow. I have read that quite a lot of guys are not happy with the way an X pipe alters the exhaust note however, they say it doesn't sound quite like a V8 any more.
