Re: Fifty shades of Jade

The design was fully completed in CAD, and we carried out a full flow and CFD simulation on both the air and waterside and their interaction with each other.

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

We spent hours looking at different ducting designs. Rad surface area, core sizes, outlets, inlets... There are so many variables all affecting each other. Also, we need to design for a 7miles track at Bonville high altitude, high ambient temperature. Pictures are a mix of iterations of design and h...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

The basic concept was simple on paper to take high-pressure air off the nose through naca ducts. Naca Ducts allows air to flow into an internal duct with a minimal disturbance to the flow. The design was originally called a submerged inlet, since it consists of a shallow ramp with curved walls reces...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

Radiators Cooling is black magic and snake oil, and there is very little information in the public domain. Most F1 teams keep their information very close, and it is tough to test prototypes. Over the last few years, we have run a few radiators and tried different things. Unfortunately, we seem to s...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

I am using lots of silica-based products with a much higher heat rating than the sexy looking lava based product. I once wrapped a set of headers on a 440 and with a bare wrap would T-bag with any fluid leaks. Bit of an experiment but have gone over the wrap with a Silica based adhesive metal tape u...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

Mixed reviews on wrapping turbo exhaust Manifold due to average temp inside the exhaust running at 700°c ++ then wrapping the exhaust can push temperatures up to steel melting point which can crack manifolds. Compounded by the fact we are running full closed-loop lamda fuel control meaning we run ve...

Re: Fifty shades of Jade

To my surprise, the fuel tank is much larger than I expected. And if anything, I need to make it a little smaller. :-k Elsewhere on the bike, I was to find a location to install 2x high power lithium-ion batteries. The issue with lithium batteries is they don't like heat and explode when they get to...
