Engine running completely normally. Most of the problems that I have had with this car have been poor, loose or crappy connectors behind the dash . . . this may be yet another. My gut feel is that the actual Tacho dial assembly is to blame. The clock doesn't work, the dimmer doesn't work and before ...

Went for a good run today and noticed half way through that the Tacho works for a bit, has a small fit and flicks backwards (it climbs in a clockwise direction) and then works for a bit, then a fit, works, fit . . . and so on. seems sort of OK at idle.
