Wow. $1.07 a GALLON.

Was probably about 50p? I remember seeing episodes of the Sweeney from the mid 70's showing fuel at about 80p a gallon.
Mind you wages were probably £20 a week (I was till at school, honest)

When I started driving in 1975 petrol was 50p a gallon and I was on 30 quid a week. It had taken me a while to save up the £200 for my first Anglia…
