Classic prices......

Post by Jeff »

Lots of chatter over here about the classic car prices, apparently they are dropping. And some of the dealers are getting a bit Bananarama! with cars they have held onto, waiting for a fat profit. They have to sell at a loss at the mo.....
Good news for us end users I guess! ;)
I am keeping this Mopar....... SOLD!

I see things moving steadily the other way. Also, I subscribe to the little black book of collector car prices, and bit by bit prices have been rising over the past couple of years.... For the cars we are interested in anyway.

I buy and sell 80's hot hatches and demand for original cars is greater than ever.

I would say the prices are getting higher ( in the UK that is )

It all seems a bit odd at the mo.

Pre war stuff is (generally) down.
Apart from that much of the rest of the market seems to be moving upward. Not quite at the rate some would have you believe. There are a lot of "have a go heros" trying their hand at the mo asking top money for junk.

80's and 90's stuff is turning the corner. Some of it has moved quite a bit but some models have gone through a boom and bust period. Rover P6 and Audi Quattro are prime examples.

Most of the US Mopar mags that follow auction results are saying the trend is upwards?

I've seen a slow rise in US stuff in recent years particularly Mustangs and the C2 Vettes.

This matching numbers malarky drives me bonkers, I don't really give a stuff about it although my Charger is correct in terms of ALL the running gear and panels but the wrong inlet and exhaust manifolds and other small items are my preference over originality

I see prices of blue chip, low miles, original "special" cars going up still as there's a world wide market and these are very rare finds. But I see the dross that's been dragged up with it falling back.
