Decided I'm not that keen on the standard argent silver grill. So thought time to paint it satin black.

So masked of the lamp surrounds, primered and finished in black smooth Hammerite. Thought Hammerite might give better protection against stone chips.

The Grill is a pain to get out and the front bumper is not shifting, so did it in situ.

So today 3 Coats of primered, then 4 coats of Hycote Bodyshop satin black lacquer.

Cheers Matt :) . Had a bit of stick from some yanks about changing the argent grill on an "original and collectable" 1970 A66, but no ones heard of them over here so who cares. It's got to look as fast as it goes!

Well done, I like it.

I need to do mine whilst it is out.
I think it really improves the definition on the Grille assembly.

Great job!

Cheers Pete. Yes, satin black rather than matt black, shows the definition. Would be great to see what yours looks like all done.

Have been tidying up the engine bay on the Challenger. New alternator, restored the air cleaner and radiator, painted the block. And thanks to Andy's Speedshop for the new washer bottle. A few more things to do.

How'd you get on doing the air cleaner housing and lid? They are crackled finished and ive never had any real luck getting the finish correct?

Cheers. Didn’t do the air cleaner in a crackled finish, just satin black lacquer. Don’t know how to get the crackled finish.
