RIP Steve Gorringe

Post by Adam »

Sad to report that Steve passed away last night after some weeks in hospital.

For those that don't know, Steve was very instrumental in the formative Mopar scene in the UK, running the MMA in the 80's when we communicated by telephone and duplicated news letter. I bought my first Mopar, a 68 Satellite, from him in 1983, and he was a huge help and inspiration in those early years, not only to me, but to anyone who needed knowledge and encouragement. Steve organised those legendary early Mopar runs to Brighton in the 80's, where a lot of us older members first met. A true gentleman, and cheerful to the last, he will be sorely missed.

Thoughts are with his wife Shesh, son Spencer, daughter Rachel, and all of his family and friends.

RIP Steve

Sad news indeed...…………………………...If it wasn`t for "Steve and Shish", and all of their efforts, we would not have the MOPAR Club we have and enjoy today. :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

It would be great to give Steve a proper "MOPAR" send off =D> =D> =D>

That’s really sad news. Steve used to be close friends with Pete Jordan and we all spent many hours at Pete’s house back in the eighties working on various Mopars. Another one gone, condolences to the family RIP.

Sad news Adam, as you say.
I didn't know Steve though I expect he was there at Brighton in 86 ish.
Still got a load of old club 'mags' which were probably hand written and then photocopied by Steve.
There was a thrill seeing your car in print, even though it was usually a really dark photo that looked like it had been xerox'ed about 5 times.
RIP Steve.

Spoke to Steve a few times over the years, didn't really know him that well. I met a lot of my long standing Mopar friends at his Brighton meets I seem to remember. RIP Steve you were the one that laid the foundations for our UK Mopar community and I hope you'll be remembered as such.

I neglected to mention Steve's dry sense of humour. I recall telling him that I'd bought a nitrous oxide kit for the well worn 318 in my Satellite. "Well, it will save undoing all those fiddly nuts and bolts" he said. I never fitted it.
