Ordering stateside - delivery restrictions !

Post by morgan »

Well thats just great. Dare not press 'send' now. I mean I *think* we are OK receiving packages but who the heck knows ?!? I dont fancy picking up the tab for a gouging return rate.

This one is 'summit'. Be careful folks

I was more concerned with "If we cant deliver you are responsible for all costs in getting them back to us" !

Can see how you are stuck though - Hemi bits dont have that many options I guess...

Nope, and these are not even "Hemi" gaskets - they are one-off Cometics made to order for that specific engine...

Hey Pete
Am in same boat , awaiting delivery from Ecklers on some shorty headers made by a company called Sanderson in California . They are not sure if Sanderson are in lock down so don't know when I will get them . Am going for a full stain less steel exhaust with Flowmaster super 44's which are coming from Frosts in Wellingborough and as far as I am aware they are still awaiting their stateside delivery .
Been a month on the headers already !...…… still not in such a hurry now , nothing doing ,and the exhaust place closed anyway :(
Still can self isolate in the Impala :D …….. and fuel getting cheaper by the day :D
Yours

Personally I would hold off ordering parts from the States right now, the current situation is causing all sorts of issues. I was speaking with Ron Fenton last week and there is a shortage of containers to ship stuff out of LA because nothing has been coming in from China for many weeks and it's those same containers they use to ship stuff out again. Seems sensible to wait a bit until the supply chains are a bit less stretched.

Two years ago I ordered some bits off Summit Racing Equipment & due to a cockup the parcel was returned back to US by DHL - I was expecting DHL to send me a paper Tax+Duty invoice once it got here, but instead they kept e-mailing me to an address I no longer use...for two weeks they got no reply & so they sent my stuff back to US.

Summit re sent an identical parcel free of charge (original shipping was $160) and put it on their tab - when I spoke to them on the phone it wasnt even a big deal, all they wanted is to make sure the second parcel gets here. In general I think the level of customer service in US is a little higher than what we are used to expect :o

Good advice by Blue.
I recently tried to order parts ( in the end from 3 suppliers) best price etc. The parts in US Dollars were about $450.00 But the freight- Shipping was $700.00 !!
Think I can wait until things calm down a bit.

Give Rob a bell and get it shipped over in his container. I have two quarter panels winging their way over to him now and will get loaded into the next Container. Really cant see the point in waiting myself.
