Help with 2006 jeep Commander 5.7 Hemi, please!

Post by Pete »

Morning all.

A Request from a new Member:

I’ve just bought the car and have had it thoroughly checked out by specialists.

Gearbox perfect. Engine perfect apart from a p1521 engine oil code and a p0404 egr valve code.

The oil has just had its 5000 mile change and the EGR valve has been re-cleaned even though it’s pristine.
The last owner ran it on ethanol which may have something to do with it.

Jeep in Guildford have told me that they don’t have the right ECU tool for this era but suggested a remap.

Before I do that I’ll get the EGR valve replaced for the hell of it!

Could someone please advise who has the correct equipment to remap for me?

I live near Salisbury so Hants / Dorset /Wilts would be grand.
If no joy I’ll ask Richard Boatwright’s AVS in Braintree.

All best and thanks!

Kevin 07768765780.

no idea

but i think he should start with looking up ECU reset

it will be a turn on, turn off, press key lock , left indicator, then press accelerator for 5 second job, no idea what but something like that
or pull all of the wires from it and wait 24-48 hours

he needs to know if that buggers up his keys
he needs to know his radio satnav code
he needs the magic plastic ive lost my key KEY in his pocket not in the glove box

EGR is usually just a thing that blocks off and opens a passage as such the ecu probably uses time it takes to open and current flowing to open it to establish if its working right.

if these things were at the end of tolerance and now jump back to pristine and new. the ECU will be ??????? the ???????

having said that running a petrol engine on a high mix of ethanol will have greatly increased running temps and exhauist gas temps....EGR set up could be...as they say in Australia Completely Cactus......

reset reset reset. cost nuffin but time
