Getting the steering wheel off....

Post by Dom66 »

Any tips for shifting the damn thing? I don't want to welt it too hard, it's cracked enough as it is, none of my pullers will fit round without causing damage... :help:

I am sure the hub has two or more Thread tappings for a puller to be installed there - do NOT hit the wheel - you will damage it or pull the column top bearing out of position as it will over-ride the snap ring.

I bought a very cheap steering wheel puller from Europarts a couple of weeks ago, less than a tenner and had a variety of adaptations. I can find the part number if you want to check your local branch or I’d lend it.

Thanks Pete, after disassembling the horn ring I found the two holes :thumbright:

CC, appreciate the offer, but now I can see what I'm dealing with I have something that will work with just a couple more holes drilled in it.

:salute:
