esso ethanol free petrol
Having read recently that esso were selling ethanol free petrol, I set out to buy some. of the four esso petrol stations in my area, none knew they were selling it , turns out they all were. esso synergy supreme plus is ethanol free. Heres the shock, 95 octane two star is £1.04 per litre. 97 octane synergy supreme plus is £1. 34.9 per litre. what a rip off !!!!!

I bought some of the 97 octane stuff the other day and was concerned to see the pump was labelled 'E5' just like the regular 95 though?
Re: esso ethanol free petrol
Put some cheap 99p supermarket crap in my Mustang the other day and I think it clogged up the carb as it started overflowing. Never again, will pay for the good stuff.
That’s price though is a bit much.

the supermarket crap comes out of the same refinery as the branded stuff...
it really is just the additive package that changes
it all has to be euro and British standard

Re: esso ethanol free petrol
My Tesco local petrol station has always been Esso even before Tesco took it over.
It sells the ethanol free 97 and I have always filled up my cars there.
The wife's car just gets any old crap though.

I have just changed all the AN Braided Lines on the Challenger from the traditional Rubber to Teflon so I hope not to have E85 issues, I have seen older ones fail due to degradation....

check if your carbs have nitrile tipped needle valves (black). replace with vitton tipped (brown) any new ones should be, if that is part of the design of your carb.
most car carbs have a, smooth as a ball bearing style metal tip but you never know, depends on the valve design
a melted and disintegrated 1.5 mm nitrile cone will certainly cause some lean running if its bits get stuck in a jet but the needle valve will still work just the float level won't be right due to a shorter tip on the valve
