Way back in early 80's as a keen lad I went to view a Blue Barracuda Convertible RHD White top that was for sale in Irvine (or possibly Killwining) Scotland. I do remember owner being very reluctant to take it out for a run in in the rain !! .Would be interesting to know if it was same Car but I have absolutely no idea what reg No was.

So just wee update regarding the Barracuda.

I managed to find he seller who put the previous pics up via his ebay link. I emailed him on ebay on the off-chance he could help me find the guy who he sold it to. He found his ebay name and passed it onto me after contacting him and asking if it was ok.

Turns out he has 10 boxes of bits for the Barracuda still and the Seats. The engine is lost though, but he still has the 904. And he has a new crate 408" Stroker he had planned to put in the Barracuda. He wanted to sell me everything as a job lot. I told him that 1, I cant afford it even if I wanted to and 2, I have a 340 at Dave B getting looked over. So we agreed on a price and he said he even has a box full of paperwork I can have to.

So at this stage Im well happy Ive tracked down the parts, paperwork and as he's happy to part with them the Shell has clearly came to me via a legitimate way. He's even asked me to help me on the 408 and if I find a buyer I'll get a discount off of the parts. But when I ask him how the car came to be separated from the parts he never replied, instead asked me how I came to be possession of the Barracuda. Which you'd think would be the first question you'd ask if some lad contacts you out of the blue asking if he has the parts.

I told him truthfully how I came to 'own it' as I clearly dont wish to own a stolen or murky history car and he's yet to get back to me since I told him on Wednesday how I bought it.

All very peculiar.

Let's hope he does not go from:

"I've got a sale for all those old parts I have kicking around", to:

"I have found my old car, now how do I get it back???"

Well done tracking the parts down, by what you are saying I reckon it’ll turn out Ok. I’m thinking the current situation has come about because somewhere along the line someone owes someone else money. Whatever it is hopefully it’s ancient history now.

Absolutely! But I rather that happen now than after Ive spent thousands on the shell and have to hand it back to him. And if its rightfully his then of course he should have it back. Id just like to know for sure either way. Is rather odd though.

Maybe I should have waited before buying new quarter panels for it. :D Got one of the full AMD Quarters but only the left as they sold out of the right hand ones, so bought a Sherman instead. Might be a false economy but we'll see.

Fair play to you Andy.
Let's hope it works out for you, and he has not got the V5 in his name with that pile of paperwork...

He's not replied since Wednesday, but he did say he's off to work for the next two weeks from Sunday (tomorrow)

Since I got the car without the V5 Ive applied for it.

Will see how things progress.

Thanks to 68roadrunner I now have a very nice Dash and Instrument Cluster for the Barracuda including the wiring loom and a few other bits and bobs.

Im still trying to get the parts from the previous seller but its proving difficult pinning him down to collecting them.

Thats the V5 arrived at the house now. :)

I'm assuming as the previous owner has not made a claim on the car and I now have the V5 I'm good to go?

You got the V5, but did the old owner ever get back to you on the boxes of parts he had?
I am coming to believe a 56mph speed record is harder to achieve than a 400mph one!
