Trying to track down my Dad’s Duster.

Post by 1970 Duster »

Good evening everyone, I hope you are all well! I am just starting the process of trying to track down my Dad’s old 1970 Plymouth Duster, after the standard DVLA check, it appears it last changed hands in 2005. I was just wondering if anyone had seen or heard of a 1970 Duster, in yellow with a 383 big block in it? Registration GPW 287N. Any help would be much appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

I think I know the car, I have photos of it at Brighton in the '80's. I have a vague memory of selling a guy some inner wings for it about 12 years ago? It had been sitting for years and wasn't in the best of shape but he was trying to revive it, fairly sure he was a member here at the time. He was from south of me so possibly Surrey area? Unless something else jogs my memory that's all I've got.

Hi Blue, thanks for getting back to me, really appreciate it! Is there any way you could share the photos with me please? That would be amazing. Yeah, the car is from Surrey, my Dad built it in the 80’s and had to sell because me and my sister came along… I’d really love to find the car for him, especially if it’s local. Really appreciate your help!

Would the car/user be registered on here do you reckon? Thanks again.

If the owner was a member here it's possible Matt Hollingsworth would have it on record, drop him a PM. Here's the photos I have from one of the Brighton meets with the original club.

Sorry to be a pain Blue, the messages are stuck in my outbox, is that normal, until they’ve been read?

.... parked next to a certain rusty green Sport Satellite.
:D

Can't say I remember talking to the owner of the Duster though. Sorry.
Well it was about 36 years ago.
Good luck with your search.

Fantastic! That’s my Dad’s mate Bob’s old car, funnily enough my Dad and I bumped into him for the first time in about 10 years the other day and that’s what made me post as they were getting all nostalgic! Love it! Thanks very much!

Yes we bought that Sport Satellite from Bob Watson (if memory serves) on June 7th 1985, the day before Garys Picnic at Santa Pod.
Tell your dad if he sees Bob again to say that the twins he sold it to still have the car! :D

That’s unbelievable. Amazing that you still have the car! I’ll definitely tell him. How does it look now? Probably quite different I’d imagine?
