I'm so sad about this disaster, it happened right in front of us in my daughter's garden and only a mile from home. I feel just numb, I've never seen anything like it. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who are lost ......

Absolutely terrible.

Without pre-judging it would seem that the pilot tried to stay with it to try to save lives.

Appalling for all concerned.

I assume that was the Hunter scheduled for Gransden..

Me and the family were there , crossed that junction 10 minutes before he came down , shocking ..
Looked to me that lost momentum and power half way round the top of the loop and couldn't pull enough height , he stayed in rather than bang out but ran out of room ..

It seemed to me that he had no power coming out of the loop, there were no signs of thrust in the final moments, he pulled the nose up to try and gain lift but realising what was about to happen banked sharp to the left to try and miss the road and head for the fields ...... just my opinion

We were there too. The crowd went quiet as it disappeared from view behind trees. Then we saw the fireball. I don't remember any sound from the impact.

Terrible......... i know you guys love this stuff, i think it should all be stopped there are just to many flying accidents at events like this

I'm tending to agree with you Dunc, this is happening too often, planes flying too low to wow the crowds at a show is clearly dangerous. My old father in law was a pilot, he always taught me when we flew together that safety is in height and speed

And now another in Switzerland, near my family home in Solothurn ...

On the que out , (the 5 hour one) I got chatting to a guy who was at
farnborough back in the 50 "s with his dad . he was in the private enclosure and a twin engine plane got into trouble right in front of them , his dad shoved him down on the deck and followed ... He remembers seeing both engines fly over his head on their own only feet away ... 32 people died that day .

These planes are complicated , old and loads of them will be chucked about for two days all within a few square miles ... So the odds of an incident are obviously high .

Yes,it's time rich men playing with planes in crowded areas should be stopped.

Horrific. And as said , sadly happening too often.

That picture was taken by a good friend Terry, he was standing on the side of the A27 just outside the village, we just spoke on the phone and he said the worst of it all was that he knew it was going to happen, that the plane clearly didn't have enough height and was going to come in hard. He's in a terrible state, he was much nearer than me

Maybe we should ban anything that's remotely dangerous and take up gardening, or alternatively the organisers could look at ways to make it safer without reducing the excitement and visual spectacle for the paying public.
