I see they've done some test runs there with Grumpy's Dodge, it went well by all accounts according to the news on Eurodragster. I would have attended this but will be on holiday

Yeah, I've always struggled with the concept of 1/8 mile - ok if you haven't got the room for the full 1/4 and shut-down area, but at a proper(full) drag strip, 1/8 seems a waste of all that effort to get off the line if you have to get off the gas just after you've got started... :-k

Nothing wrong with 1/8 mile racing.

but this no prep lark I don't get, cool on the street ala street outlaws etc

but at the track no,, we do not get enough track time anyway, most times if one of my cars get out of shape its abort the run. no real point in keepin the hammer down as the amount of time lost due to peddling can be massive,

if I had a 10k knacker with maybe 500 horse them I might want a play,, otherwise a waste of fuel,,

I think you're spot on there Duncan, one of the most fun days of my life was on the 1/8 mile track at Bovingdon in the Satellite I bought off you. It trounced (nearly) everything that day on the WWII tarmac with loose stuff flying everywhere. I beat Kev, Naughty Allan, Bob Howe and all others (but one) and they left me for dead on the 1/4 at the Pod!

Happy Days!

Brilliant martin, bet you were buzzing, if you check out most sort off proper drag cars get the job done in the 1/8.. my challenger ran 126 in the 1/8 and only pulled 151 best in the quarter,,

what ever happened to the satti ????

To be honest Duncan I wish I'd kept it, had more fun with that than anything. I sold it to a mate of Cliff Turner (who runs the red? Dart). A really nice guy who had it repainted dark blue and runs it at the NATs!

I like the idea of no prep and the 1/8mile,you could make a car on solid suspension hook at the Pod,this will equal out the field I reckon.
This is racing, not sitting in a field

correct dave , last year at the north weald 1st no prep event it was won by a chevy 2 - ive since seen it at the pod at from memory it runs mid 10's in the 1/4 , but it beat a load of 7/8 second cars because as you say it was racing so there were a load of red lights , traction problems etc etc etc so it really made the field even and was alot of fun. I however have no excuse for not making it past the first round in my camaro as that was down to poor driver skill and overall lack of experience
