Ever wonder how search engines know about the content of a site? They use a Web crawler also known as a bot or spider. phpBB (the forum software) comes pre-loaded with configuration for the most common spiders, such as Google [Bot] and Bing [Bot]. When they are visiting they'll show up as Registered Users who are browsing the forum.

Had me worried there, back to the days when you could register without joining first, and we'd get 40 robot new members every day which we had to delete. That doesnt happen now as all forum access is set up manually.
