I've got a bit held up from doing any work on my Dart for the past year. I sold the Mustang, but had bought a MK1 Cortina, at a couldn't say no price.
I have been rebuilding into a modern take on a lotus Cortina.

Did the moss as well last 2 weekends, drive and back patio, by hand with garden trowel. Wife wouldn't let me use moss killer. Mind numbing and back breaking, but filled up the time.

i sat on the roof with a hose pipe

we have had a leak for 16 years..

we have had 6 or so roofers look at it all of whom promised a fix, and charged us enough to reduce expendable income to nil....
we have had the whole front of the roof replaced
we have had a large section re done in fibreglass

still leaks

i've kept the roofing trade in christmas parties for 16 years....and it still leaks....

none of them will come back....all i get is yeah yeah well come back, do they come back NO.

6 months ago i lifted the bottom 8 rows of tiles

replaced the modern permeable membrane with the tar soaked paper and fishing net sandwich they used in 1973 had to get a special pass at the builders merchants to get it......improved the situation ....but it still leaks

so

hose
rubber plunger head with the handle mounting cut out

i pressure tested the brick work in the parapet wall..

would you credit it

water in small hole in centre of 1 brick

water out
loft
bedroom
and about 10 places in the first meter down the outside wall.
all a good meter from where it went in

i then tried multiple others holes and cracks with devastating effect

its not a problem with the roof...... is it

very much like the dentist saying yer teeth are alright but yer gums will have to come out

and i now understand why all of the 3 year old repointing is coming off...every time the sodden brickwork and mortar freezes it pops off the street facing pointing......

so relieved to have finally found it or at least some of it...i predict a larger investment in mortar and lead
