Finally got round to sorting out her new shoes...

Still missing something. :-k Orange paint ? I'll give Blue a call and see what he thinks.

Sorry I don't like Vector wheels, not many people did at the time. If it wasn't for the DOH they would just be another long forgotten style IMO.

Don't sell your old wheels, you'll see the light one day.....

today i had to blank off the poxy egr valve on my daily (2.0 tdci c-max). it wouldn't rev up or pull at all. 5 codes with the relevant one to the symptoms being egr valve stuck open meaning it was feeding exhaust gasses into the inlet all the time. i whipped up a plate after removing the wipers and upper and lower scuttle panels to get to the back of the engine. a quick job to fit the plate and all's well again. i was happy enough to now give it a service and i even fitted the new front struts i've had for almost a month as the scuttle needs to come off for that job too. i hate modern cars. oh and the offside front spring had half a coil broken off at the bottom so i cut it square and trimmed the same off of the other side too. it might sit 1/4" lower now but i haven't got to wait 'til monday to get new springs (i never fit just one) so we're good.

EGR valve is a complete pain. My old Audi (which to be fair did do me for 170k) I had to have this off a couple of times and scrape the filth out.
Wont be long before diesels are done anyway...

as we both need to lose some weight i've bought dawn a 70's bsa shopper 20. she showed me a hercules her mum used to have which is basically a copy of a raleigh shopper as is the bsa. only £50 and really in very nice condition. the tyres are cracked so i've ordered 2 new ones and while the wheels are out we'll go over it with some polish and oil. she's happy which as any married man will know is a good thing. for me i have my dad's old again 70's raleigh transit which he used to ride daily at work on a 5 mile loop taking in seasalter seafront. i've kept it meaning to 'do it up one day' as you do. this is that day. so far i've stripped it to the frame and stretched it so the wheelbase is now 18" longer. it's not a show thing so a quick go over the welds with a flapwheel on the grinder and a rub down with a couple of fine-ish da discs and it was ready for paint. 2 coats of rattle can primer and 4 of rattle can gloss black and that's good enough for me. i've ordered new handlebars and stem, gear and brake cables (red outers), 2 chains to get the length and i already have bigger whitewalls and a new comfy gel seat. so here's some pics of where i am so far. i had a quick mockup with the old rolling stock to see the proportions were right once it was all tacked up. the ladies frame beside the extended version was (apart from being a ladies bike) dimensionally the same as i started with.

here's where i am so far, no white walls as strangely an american 26 x 2.125 tyre isn't 26" like our's are? whoodathunkit? so back on with the black walls it was. next i cleaned the bearing races for the headstock and the pedal spindle of years of hard old grease and repacked them with fresh grease and put all the balls back in place. wheels in and it's a roller so i dropped the 'zoom' bmx stem and handlebars into the headstock and the seat and stem at the back and it's a bike again. tomorrow i'll get the brakes and gears reconnected/fitted with the new matching red cables and it's nearly there. i may keep an eye out for bars with more rise as the seating position is a bit more bobber than easy rider but we'll see how it rides.

the chains came today so it was final assembly time......... well it was after i stripped and cleaned the brake and gear levers and the brake calipers. i also decided to use the larger cowhorn bars but the middle bit where they clamp to the stem bulged to 1" not the 7/8" that both the clamp and the rest of the bars were. you know where i'm going here, yes i cut the fat bit out and welded the sides back together. a quick localised grind flush of the weld and some clear lacquer to prevent rust and they fit. the weld is hidden in the clamp as that's about 2 1/2" wide which also gives ample support to the welded join, bonus. plus the bigger bars are taller by enough that i don't need a riser as they're comfy as is. all the cables (inner and outer) were oversize and had to be cut to fit and i had to add about 10 links to the chain from the spare one and hurrah! a rideable bike. the black side stand should be here by the weekend so i don't need to lean it against stuff or lay it on the floor which will be a bonus. then i got a call for dinner so no ride today as i still had to clear all the tools away after i'd eaten.

oh, i think i may have a lead on 26" whitewall tyres that actually fit a 26" wheel too :thumbright:

Bought my wife a TT yesterday. It’ll be curbed and dented in a month, I guarantee.
