today i made a smoker. we watched jamie and jimmy's friday night feast and jimmy made a tallsmoker from tongue n groove etc with a big stainless stock pot for the fire linked by an ally duct 'chimney pipe.
so last week i was looking at aldi's offers and they had a wooden tool shed which looked about the same size as jimmy's smoker. he said he'd spent about £100 on wood and the shed was £99 so i bought one. it came yesterday and i built and modified it today along with a stock pot, some ducting, a 4" connector and a temp gauge/probe thingy. apart from sealing the roof joins with some silicon when fired up it worked a treat and soon was up to almost 200 f or 125 c. dawn's got a joint of pork out of the freezer so we can test it properly tomorrow.

Well done on the smoker. Looks like it'll do the job well. Let us know.

Dave , he looks lovely. I'm all for re homing / adoption etc. I have a rescue cat and leopard gecko. Also have a western hognose snake ( but she was a birthday present to me )

Love all creatures, and have built a hedgehog house during lockdown. Wish I'd put a camera in now to see if it gets any residents. We have lots of visitors in our garden :)

Cheers lads :thumbright: he's our 4th rescue dog and our 3rd greyhound. And yes Morgan I hate the goodbye's as well especially the last one, lost him within 3 weeks of being diagnosed with cancer, devastated would be an understatement and didn't think I could take another one on...but I guess there was a something missing at home :)

Mygasser I know what you mean, grew up with dogs and cats so most probably always have one around, although I wasn't sure I could do it again after the last.

Mossy, always had rescues there's so many loving animals out there waiting for a home don't think we'd ever take on anything but.

today's pork was lovely, in rolls with some stuffing and apple sauce. mmmmmmmmm........
i've got to open the hole in the side up and use some header wrap round the 'chimney' connector. a couple of times i was worried it'd set fire to the side of the smoker where it was so hot. the hole is looser now and all charred and black, lol. it's a learning curve and i know i'll eventually make a steel one but this'll do for now with a couple of tweaks.

I am keeping that post of the smoker away from my missues, she'll have me building one next......looks good and i can smell the food from here..

Its good to see so many people caring and looking after animals..... Its been over five years since we lost our Rottie 'Mason' he was 9st of bulk but soft as.... well soft things...... and stuck by the sides of our boys when they where younger...we are still pet free, possiblity because of the faces of them kids when i finally had to put him down is burnt into my mind... that was a sad time.....

I had the most glamorous job of lock down, i got told to box in the bathroom pipes... its only been over a year of promising....check out the toilet roll collection....

Mountain bikes repaired, service and ready for action....

I will give you an update on how me and Brandon are getting on with the MX5 over lockdown.... a few little tweaks and then some photos..

But back to work now, getting the garage Covid protected for at least a couple of the guys to come back....so much H&S, guidlines, measuring out areas, needed....to protect us and general public....... car sales coming back... well thats another story depending on the sunday Boris speech..
