Dodge Charger not starting after TCM change.

Post by Geoff Pinto »

After some advice. Disconnected the battery and installed new TCM. Reconnected battery, put the key in ignition and waited for dash lights to go out before starting. However dash lights and radio turned off. Took the key out and tried again, and this time immobiliser light flashing as well. Speedo does not illuminate either and can not start the car. All advice welcome.

i thought TCM was turner classic movies

anyway looking up what TCM was i found a discussion about removing fuse 2 fuse 11 and fuse 31

or just leaving the battery disconnected for 1/2 hour

seemingly does a full reset of the PCM and TCM

however likely you will need to put pass-code into radio again and potentially re train your throttle peddle

what happens if you put the old TCM in
same problem i'd suggest connector or fuse problem, i.e the new one isn't powering up and now the old one isn't for the same reason
or the TCM needs to be set to work with this car/ecu/key/chassis number
all lights good then maybe the new TCM is not good

pretty sure you will have done this so i'll admit i'm clutching at straws while i fill in 15 minutes before my first meeting of the day, such is my life working from home :)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply.

I tried the battery disconnect, with no luck.

Put the old TCM back in, and still had the same issues.

Checked the fuses in the bonnet, and they were fine. (I forgot about the ones in boot )! Checked them today and it was fuse 8 & fuse 29.

All sorted now!
