new records

Post by gmopar59 »

Hi all, went out to go for a spin in the old girl today, ended up fitting locks to the guy who has the garage next to me. Does house clearances. Ended up with these. The swing ones have serious packaging. The Judy Collins is ‘send in the clowns’ and the Sweet is ‘Ballroom Blitz’. Not bad for an hours work

What a nice piece of history. If I had to guess, without looking on the internet (which was harder than I realised!) I would say this was a nostalgia set for someone from the 40's, bought in the 80's. It looks like the sort of thing I would buy now, but with music from the 1980s.

Ok, so I caved in!

The one on the left - "The Swing Era: 1930 - 1936: Wonderful Times: Making a lot out of a little". 1973

The one on the right - "The Swing Era: 1936 - 1937: THe movies: Between Vitaphone and Video". 1970 interestingly.

Part of a larger set of music by - "Time Life Music", a *huge* American publisher back in the day, it would appear.

Pete, played these over the weekend. The Blue one is fantastic but came down into the back room where the record player is and the musty smell (old peoples home) knocked me over. Now out in the shed.
