What on earth does this do ?

It looks to have some sort of balljoint pickle on it - but in a see-saw ?!?
Anyone ?

Looks like some kind of ancient valve spring compresser, I assume it has 2 heads to suit different sizes of retainer.

That makes sense. I found it with a g-clamp/lever type of valve compressor.
