Message Board Guidelines – September 2015
Welcome to the Mopar Muscle Association Messageboard (MB)

Please read the Messageboard guidelines - they are a condition of its use! Further tips on getting the most of the Messageboard follow below.

The full MMA Constitution can be seen HERE

Guidelines

When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone.

Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated.

It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Great minds do not always think alike, and that's where the fun is!
Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the MB or its Moderators.

We must stress that this board must be run on a friendly basis & with absolutely no bad language.
Putting swear words into conversation is okay down the pub, but it is not acceptable here. This includes disguised swear words where certain letters have been replaced by other characters, such as the number "5" in place of the letter "S" but where the intended word is still recognisable.

New Members can & have been discouraged from posting by others giving them a hard time unnecessarily when a conversation has started. Regulars - please refrain from giving new folk grief until you have at least got to know them.

If you want to post about something that might be a touchy subject please do so under 'General Stuff, but expect this to come under more scrutiny from the Moderators. The old “red face” test applies – would you be comfortable if your wife, your mother, or your boss saw it?

“Trolling”, or deliberate posting for the purpose of intentional provocation and baiting of the membership or a single member will not be tolerated.
It may be all the rage on Social Media, but it is not acceptable in this car club and with a group of enthusiasts who are here for a common interest and purpose.

The Committee and Moderators will deal with potential cases swiftly, especially if it is directed at a new and inexperienced member.

Penalties will be harsh. There will be limited warnings, and possible suspensions.
Repeated offences will result in expulsion from the club with no refund of fees if the case is proven to the Committee’s satisfaction.

If you have a problem with anyone's posts that you feel cannot be dealt with on the MB then the first step is a polite email, Private Message, or phone call by you to the person who posted the message concerned, to resolve the situation. No retaliations on the MB.

If that does not have the desired effect then the MMA will get involved, but only as a last resort.
Any situation that is likely to bring the club into disrepute will be treated very seriously and could result with the guilty party being expelled from the club. Once again this would be a last resort.

We have to take care that we do not post anything that is potentially libellous. If this sort of problem does occur then the MMA will be within its rights to pass the details of any member concerned to the aggrieved party if required.

We have to respect other people's copyrighted material.
If you are posting information or pictures from another source, especially if it is the original source of that information, it is a good idea to ask that person's permission and at least acknowledge the source of the material. DO NOT post, or offer to copy, copyrighted software or documentation on the board; it is up to you if you deal with copied software or documentation, however the MMA is responsible for the files found on the MB and we cannot afford any legal ambiguity!

Moderators have a duty to uphold the highest standards on the message board and have the authority to remove any posting that is not in the club's best interest. They will always give a reason or explanation for removing a message, but this will be sent to the person who posted and will not be in general view for comment by the membership.

If you have a problem with any aspect of the club, please contact a committee member or area rep. No club politics on the message board. If it is felt that a public debate on the message board is beneficial then it will be dealt with in this way, under supervision by the Moderators and Committee.

Remember, the Committee is here to deal with the day to day running of the club, and will attempt to act in the best interests of the club and membership at all times.

You are responsible for any posts made using your username, if others are allowed to use your username you will be accountable for whatever they post!

Negotiations or comments on the price or value of items being traded by members via the board should be undertaken by Private Message or email, not in the thread.

Ultimately a member's use of the MB should at all times be in the best interests of the MMA and the hobby. Each member using the MB does so on the basis that they accept and agree to the above guidelines. It is a condition of using the MB.

Basically it is down to common sense, courtesy and good manners - think before you type, and have a great time with like-minded people!

If you feel a change to these Guidelines should be considered, please raise your suggestion via PM, email, or phone call to a Committee member.

MMA Chairman and Committee.
