NEC 2021 - It's all a Blur!!!

Post by Pete »

Well, it followed the usual pattern - LOTS of Planning, lots of co-operation, but this time lots of uncertainty due to recent restrictions...

... and then it was upon us!

Whilst it felt a little subdued, it was a great event!

As ever, the event was made special by the people involved.

Steve Bilson, our old hand and NEC Liaison specialist is starting to take a back seat, but was heavily involved at the onset, but would not be present "on the Ground" on this occasion.

He mentored Dave Evans - he of miraculous Charger restoration - who very kindly offered to assist the MMA's NEC presence.
Dave did a fantastic job and was a really welcome addition to the Team.
He continued to assist and support all the MMA members and leant a willing hand at every occasion. Top man!!

Thanks Dave - we could not have done it without you!

Special thanks to all the Members who kindly gave up their time and provided their cars for the stand - including David Christmas whose beautiful 1970 Roadrunner (a previous MMA Stand star!) was on standby in the event of a member having to drop out. Thanks as ever, Dave!!!

Thanks (in no order) to:

Kev Martin for displaying his newly restored 1971 Plymouth Satellite - I had several comments from the adoring public that this was the car of the show for them!

Craig Hadfield (and not forgetting his lovely wife Wendy - aka "Starsk's) for displaying their fantastic 1968 Dodge Charger 440 R/T, as ever the first thing that the punters zero in on!

Wendy has the infamous Ford Torino with a stroker motor, and I have no doubt that she will be posting on here again soon!

"Oddball" of the show probably went to the Barking 1966 Dodge Coronet Hemi of Jason Pettit, and the stories behind the car left many viewers gob-smacked. It's a wonderful car and anyone who has not seen it in the flesh really needs to take a look if they get a chance.

Whilst we may have had a modest stand and a relatively plain backdrop, the cars (and certainly their owners!) did the talking and proved to be extremely popular.

Thank you again guys and Gals - you not only made it possible, but you made it fun and memorable as well!

A quick word of praise for Roy Stapleton (aka "Slowhand") who is the Chairman of the Ford "Brand X" Team who was excellent company all weekend and who stopped me drinking too much. Sincere thanks, and we will all have to do it again some time.

Back to reality now!

Keep it Mopar!!

I echo Petes words...thank you very much to Dave and all the owners for making the MMA presence at the show as good as ever. A difficult year still but it went without issue.

My life and retirement has finally taken the path I have dreamed of for many years and being 'hands on' with the show isn't practical anymore. Dave knocked it out the park this year and I have the feeling we are in safe hands!

Many thanks again to all involved,

Cheers Steve :thumbright:

Thanks Pete
weekend was great ! as above and thanks for all the organizer's for what was a smooth run event
It was less busy than when we went 5 years ago
but the cars were hugely popular with the crowds.
Thanks to Kev, Tina , Jason and Dave (and Pete ) who really looked after us,
the show is huge and there were SOOOOOO many cars i wanted
Craig took the auction number i got away from me :( after raising it a few more times than he would have wished ! :D
unfortunately the auction spiraled out of control and out of my pocket range ! (phew ! says Craig)
it was lovely being part of the show and would love to do it again if invited .

The only spoiler was picking up Jazz ( my defender) to find some scumbag had stolen her spare wheel :angryfire:

the trailer brake/bearing caused a wee smoke on the M5 so we had to off load the charger to keep the trailer light
and to top the weekend some mug had to drive the charger whilst Craig drove Jazz and the trailer back !
and when we did get to the lock up someone had pinched her space we had to move that all around ! so started off at 8 am pretty much got back 8pm after all that

was fun times thank you all

Hiya Starks's (and of course Craig).

Thanks for posting up, and sincere thanks for supporting the MMA Stand at the NEC with the fantastic Charger.

I am so glad you both enjoyed being on the Stand, it really is great fun and very enjoyable getting to know everyone!

All the best, and I hope to see you at the Drag Strip!

Drive safe!
