Isle of Man Festival of Motoring 2023

Post by Pete »

I have been approached by the organisers to gauge interest for participation in the 2023 Isle of Man (IOM) Festival of Motoring event.
We can do this on a Club basis if we get sufficient numbers.

I appreciate that is sounds a long way off, but there is a significant amount of planning involved to make the event a success.

This will be the third such event, and the Porsche Owners will be doing this during 2022.

However, the organisers want to make the 2023 event an American Cars event!

The website for this has just been launched and is located here:

https://www.iomfm.com/2023-american-extravaganza

You can watch all of the event video clips here:

https://www.iomfm.com/video-gallery.

The event dates are:

15th – 17th September 2023.

Here is a bit of background:

Non-Island participants can choose from one of the 3 to 7 night packages including ferry crossings and a great selection of Island hotels and self-catering cottages.

IOM residents can join in the fun by coming out to see the cars during the weekend and we have a selection of 'Event Only' packages for residents who have a suitable vehicle to allow you access to the various runs and festival activities.

• Exclusive Closed Road Runs on the Sloc Mountain Road
• Entry to the IOM Motor Museum & Jurby Transport Museum
• You own dedicated Club Space at the Car Display in Douglas
• A Police Escorted Motorcade from the TT Grandstand to Ramsey on the TT Circuit
• Exclusive Closed Road Run on the TT Mountain Road
• Afternoon Tea at the famous Creg-Ny-Baa
• TT Grandstand Pitlane Photoshoot

In addition there are the following options:

• Exclusive Track laps on the Jurby Circuit
• Gala Dinner on Sunday Night

All of the package prices include:

• Return Ferry Crossing from Liverpool or Heysham to the IOM
• A Choice of Hotel Accommodation
• Detailed Roadbook featuring Travel Documentation & Rally Plate

The organisers would strongly recommend having a ‘Preferred Club’ hotel for club members in order to create a “group feel”.
With this said, depending on tastes & budgets members can opt for other accommodation providers should they wish, but I think it helps to not dilute member bookings and create a club feel.

If the MMA has 3+ cars interested in the 2022 new year, the Organisers can set up our own unique club link to get bookings in, as is potential for members to take advantage of the 2022 prices by being part of the early booking offer they are putting together for American cars only for the 2023 event.

You can “Register your Interest” on the IOM website, but it would also be great if members could comment on the MMA Forum so we can gauge our members interest as well.

The capacity for the event is approximately 300 Cars, and the organisers intention would be to allow all of the American Car Clubs the opportunity to promote the 2023 event prior to going on general sale.

I will try to answer any questions, but will contact the organisers for more detailed information accordingly.

I think the packages are very attractively priced and I will be looking to take the ‘Cuda!

Many thanks

Looks a good package so I've registered my interest, never been to the IOM so this could be the time to go.

Great place (and beautiful). Went quite a few times in my biking days to the TT. Sounds like a great event, especially if you haven't been before. Lots of non car related things to see there, quiet beaches and great seafood. Very busy during TT race week but will be nice and quiet when this event is on.

I can see the island from my local beach but its an absolute nightmare to get there. 17 miles and 8 hrs (unless you do it on a jetski in lockdown and it's only 4)

Thanks for posting this up Pete, cheers :thumbright:

I like the sound of this, always wanted to go to IOM so count me in. Sounds like a great event and something very different.
I have not yet registered interest directly, but I suggest it would be good that as a club we register interest, as there seems to be enough response.

Indeed, Matt.

I am now in a position where there is enough initial interest in the event that I can approach the coordinator and establish a Club booking arrangement.

Thanks for supporting this event too!!
