Booked today but only the Event & Ferry package.
Stephen is coming too so we're booking a camping Pod, helps with the cost since he's coming down from the Outer Hebrides :)
Going over on the Wednesday till Monday so we can have a good look around.

Hi there, everyone.

Please be aware that In 2 weeks’ time (end of the month) the deal ends for A) the early booking offer, and B) the rooms will be on sale to all car clubs.

The organisation expect to sell out until May/June 2023, but members might not be able to get into their first choice of hotel if they don’t book whilst the early booking priority option is open to MMA members, only in place until the end of July.

I appreciate that the world has changed a bit since the festival was conceived and planned, but some people still may wish to attend.

Thanks.

Pete

In other news for the "Isle of Man Festival of Motoring 2023" event...

The Mustang Owners Club of Great Britain (MOCGB) Chairman Roy Stapelton (on the MMA Forum as "Slowhand" - as befits a Mustang owner...) has set up a "Whatsapp Group" for all attendees to share information.

He says anyone is most welcome to join it - even Mopar Owners!!!!

If you want to be added to this group and get up to date informant (and probably a lot of gossip too!), please let me know your name and Mobile phone number, and I will pass on to Roy to add to the Group.

Many thanks

Pete Wiseman

Well i did some investigation, if anyone hasn't booked in their crossing do it now.

Ferry from Liverpool goes at 19:15 in the evening
and there aint no space left to come back on a liverpool ferry on the monday, or at least SCT, the organisers say, that that is the case, maybe they just used up their block booking.

there is not much space on any ferry back on the monday i have had to change my plan and go back to heysham on the 8:15 in the morning from Douglas... this aint like the IOW with a ferry every 40 minutes

They will also need the weight, length, width of your car
your DOB
nationality
no of passnegers
your preference of slow, intermediate or race for any on track or TT course stuff

I was originally doing 3 nights but arrving at 23:00 on friday didn't appeal
so i swapped to a Thursday arrival hopeing for a better ETA
looked into campng and other hotels to cover me for an arrival on Thursday. But again all that is availble on the ferry front, is arrving at 22:00 or 23:00
dismissed camping and found just about all accomodation £80-150 a night, so just extended my booking with SCT to 4 nights at an extra £149

my thinking was, if i'm doing this, I may as well do it properly.

Leisurly drive to liverpool on the Thursday, need to be there at 18:15.

then of course if i break down, i have a chance of getting across on friday even if, just on foot, then the plan would be to cadge a passenger space in any car that is willing :) to rescue some value from the money spent .

I got the email too and asked how soon they wanted our ferry choices - wondering if we had time to discuss with others - and she said they dont need to know till April/May.

Better not leave it that long or we wont get ANY ferry by the looks of it!

Shame they didnt let us know earlier :x

Yes, sadly no time to co-ordinate and make Block bookings for teams travelling together - I have already phoned them and made the point to no avail.... get in quick is the word...

You can email as per my earlier posting, but given the speed of Booking take up, I would call directly:

Katie Connolly
Tour Sales and Operations Coordinator
Direct Telephone: 01732879177

Katie has proved to be very helpful and will try to get you on the same crossings with people you know if it is at all possible.

Thanks

Pete.

I think Matt and I are on the same Outbound and Return Ferries.
Roy Stapleton is on the same Outbound, but a different Return - he got in first and we could not get the same as his as it was all Booked.

Matt and I are on the following:

14:15 Heysham going out (same as Roy Stapelton) and

08:45 Heysham going back, lands at 12:30 so time to get home in daylight. Roy is going back on a Liverpool Ferry later in the day.

I hope this helps....

Yeah email or call katie @ SCT they can/will book you on the ferry
timetables are here

https://www.steam-packet.com/timetables

1 sailing from liverpool per day and a couple from heysham

obvioulsy most would expect liverpool, one of our historically largest ports to be the primary port for this....BUT NO...

expect a trip further north to heysham

lots of subscribers for this event, but not enough ferry..... especially as we are not all in fiat 500s and minis, some cars will be twice the "normal" length

Thanks Pete, yes very useful, thanks.

I emailed Katie then rang them and spoke to Mike, who has booked us onto the same ferry, ie
Outbound - Heysham to Douglas, departs 14.15
Return - Douglas to Heysham, departs 08.45

I think that was the last return booking at 08.45 into Heysham

Are you travelling up on the Thursday or starting out on the Weds and having an overnight stop somewhere?
