Double Twelve at Brooklands

Post by Derek »

This has just come through from Brooklands, It might be of interest to some of you.

As discussed, we are now able to run our Double Twelve Motorsport Festival over the weekend of Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th June. I think it unlikely that any of your members would wish to take part in either the Sprint event on the Saturday, or the Driving Tests on the Sunday, but the “Pride of Ownership” could be the kind of thing that some of them with a really nice and original version of one of the Mopar cars might like to enter. You never know, you could also have a go yourself!

I am trying to get away with calling it a “concours”, as we know that there are a lot of very nice, original cars out there that owners are very proud of but don’t think are of “concours” standard. We are hoping that by increasing the importance of the originality, history, and patina of vehicles in the judging criteria that we will be able to encourage more owners to bring their vehicles “out to play” for the day and enter the competition. With classes for vehicles that were produced during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and the 1990s there is a suitable class for many of your member’s cars, if they wanted to join in. There is a small entry fee for the event, that gives then 2 tickets for the day, so they could spend time, once the judging is done, to look around the Museum.

Further details of the weekend, the regulations and entry forms are available on the Museum website via this link.
