Post by aussie pete »

Any idea what SOA ( special order approved) 581 relates to ?
I know that info on these SOA s is a bit sketchy

That might be a question for Clarkey. He’s the guru of the SOA. Do you have his contact on Facebook?

I have the 581 SOA down for that car in the register.
I am coming to believe a 56mph speed record is harder to achieve than a 400mph one!

I do not have the contact that you are referring to but would be great to glean some info on this ‘ special order’

yes SOA was totally linked to what you asked for over and above a specification that was considered normal. so SOA 581 is just a number linked to a piece of paper that said build a 770 with for example police brakes or a Buddy seat from a 4 door valiant or a 770 with rubber mats instead of carpet or whatever you decided was a better combination of options than Chrysler came up with .

Do me an RT with no stripes that would be an SOA

so only 1 car with SOA581 and its is a unique extra or extras or maybe a delete on that car

sometimes it was just an innocuous request by a dealer for a car with a specific combo that might appeal top his local area i.e a "fleet" car to act as "showroom hero"

or a car done in last years paint...

so unless someone has a list of what they were or its obvious....it can be hard to find out

good to see an SOA inner wing...never seen one, and it does make me wonder about mine, It was an unwanted oddity, went direct to the pool car compound at blacktown Sydney rather than to a dealer has A95 H51 E37 chalked/rusted under both sides of the dash. its not an E37

got a good chassis number followed by a dent makes me wonder if it started out as a sixpack and Aircon SOA (you can't fit both) and the aircon won .
compliance plate all matches and no SOA stuff on that.

so if this one has its dash in place. if you stand on your head in both foot wells you should see the rusty outline of what was chalked under there on the inner side of the main dash pod near where the dash pad clips go. if there is a weird option its either a mistake like mine or potentially linked to your SOA.

chalk letters usually a good inch- 2 inch in size so they could be seen when the car was on the raised carousel with its sill at head height

It's a Uk car, I got it from a guy in Norfolk some years ago,he bought it as a project car ( from Birmingham) that had started to be prepped as a race car ( roll cage, fuel cell etc) and as such had no v5 or reg ID.I was getting it ready to re register it ( it has have an MOT first) but then I moved house and everything got put on hold

So not UK reg yet? OK, take plenty of pics and get your NOVA letter sorted first, then V55/5. Then see if you need me or not!

If it’s a previous UK car can you not reactivate it’s old reg?

DVLA may find it from the VIN, write and ask them first before going the V55/5 route.

I'd quote the VIN with and without the SOA581 as sometimes imports were all over the place with registering.
The VIN on my Charger V5 is actually the paint code.
