This was always a very tidy car when I saw it.

I looked at this car about 4 years ago when it was in Bristol. It was properly rusty, holes in every panel, bits of guards corroded off. It was too much work for me so I walked!

I must have looked from a way off then, or with rose tints!

about 10 years ago this was VIP steves daily
it was tidy enough and solid enough to take him the 15 or so miles to and from work every day, MOTed and maintained as such

he fixed the steering box replaced wheel studs sorted brakes and did some engine work, it was showing some rust bubbles at the rear arch to boot floor wheel tub seam

he sold it when it became obvious it was going to need more time than he had to spend, given his Monaro and new family members

it seems to have gone through a few different people since, whether they maintained it or not i don't know

nice rare car the rear doors are longer than the 4 door vg the roof profile is different and obviously you get the unique VIP front grill and lights

that would explain it then, it was a long time ago that I saw it last.
Which Monaro has Steve got, an HQ?

I think its an HQ or HJ but it might be later with an early front it has the pontiac style bootlid/ rear like a 70 71 GTO

i.e not an HK-HT-HG

had it since he was very young and brought it with him to the UK

he had the VIP because he saw it and it was Australian

I need to see that, I can only remember seeing Barry Dancer's black HQ which was in Harpenden and was up for sale.

This is mine now , bought at the end of nov 2023 , just had the wiring loom redone as it had melted behind the dash in about 4 or 5 places causing a few problems with the ignition not turning off and lights not coming on , now changing the tank and fuel sender to sort a fuel leak , next will be replacing the home made exhaust by the looks of it and then the rusty sills need replacing , runs a bit lumpy at the minute but should be good after a few runs out . Also I’m on the lookout for a front right widow regulator if anyone has one , the small gear has rounded off and the 2 door parts don’t fit !!

Welcome to the Board, Matt.

If you need parts it may be better to post in the specific Thread(s), i.e. the "Wanted" sections.

There is also a lot of technical info in various Threads including innovative "workarounds" if you cannot get certain parts anymore.

All the beat,

Pete.

when it comes to window regulators there will be commonality with 66 67 68 US cars i would suspect

yours is a VIP so the oddness on your car is slightly longer rear doors i.e the fronts should have internals much like a late 60s 4 door US model

and of course the one that is worn out on yours is passenger side on a US car and less likely to be worn out

for generic parts look at 67 dodge dart 67/68 plymouth valiant /barracuda on rockauto

if you don't know if its generic just ask

you car, like mine, is a mix of imported US stuff, made under licence in Oz, US stuff. Or strangely Chrysler like versions of things made by Australian arms of european parts manufacturers

i.e wiper motors prestolite or lucas
alternators EMAIL or Bosch
carb/pump EMAIL (yes that is the name of the company) copies of Carter Parts
headlamps lucas or hella
brakes kelsey hayes PBR DBA Girling lockheed
drivetrain British borgwarner Australian borgwarner or in the case of some v8 cars US Torqueflight

Best just ask here and we can point you in the right direction
