How’s that stroker coming on..... :atthemovies:
I collected a shipment of engine parts last weekend Dorian. I think I have most of the parts I need now. Once I've cleaned up the mess I've been making I'll change the lifters on the Barracuda and then get on with the 408 for the Valiant.

Stroker progress, I have changed to an SFI damper and the engine now has a flywheel so I thought I best get the balance checked so rotating assembly dropped off at Basset Down. Bearings had an odd wear pattern on the 2 caps that have studs, when I checked they are too long, a little stretch and they will bottom out before the cap is correctly torqued, an extra hardened washer under the bolt will fix that so they are on order.
Currently fully deburring and detailing the block before it gets dipped and thoroughly cleaned.

Also been researching oiling mods, it seems the standard design is pretty good and needs little help below 6500 rpm. I thought it was worth doing the first steps for peace of mind so I reamed the mains to lifter gallery feeds to their full 1/4" and 9/32" sizes. I have just started reworking the oil pump, I'll detail that if it works out! I'm trying the maintain the 1/2" main oil feed diameter, there are several places where it is reduced.

:thumbright: I came to the same conclusion Blue, though likely decided against the gallery mods for that reason, but def equalise the feed side to 1/2"

More progress. Melling high volume oil pump, research suggests that these really don't flow any more oil unless you do something about the pick up diameter. The Milodon pick up i'm using is a generous diameter until the welded on section at the end which necks down to the stock 3/8" NPT. I had a steel 1/2" NPT gauge adaptor which I tapped out to thread on to the end then brazed on. That allowed me to drill out the restricted section to 1/2". The pump had enough meat to tap it out once I had moved to centre over a bit with a die grinder before going in with the bigger drill & 1/2" tap, sorted.
Cut a coil off the relief spring to drop the oil pressure a bit, ideally I'd like to see 20 psi at idle and no more than 70psi max @ working temp. we'll see.
Did the usual port match on the pump body and cap and drilled both to 1/2", thats that side of things finished.

Finished up the block oiling mods Today. First job is to knock out the small core plug that sits about here, it separates the feed and return from the oil filter. A long piece of rod down the oil pressure port on the top of the block gets it out.

You can then run your 1/2" drill through to the lifter gallery where it necks down.

And finally the oil filter boss gets the 1/2" drill through it too. This should see me safe to 7500 RPM, not that I plan to rev it that hard but as it cost me a total of £23 for a long drill and an hour of my time it seemed a no brainer for the extra insurance.

Great work as always!!

Any particular reason you want no more than 20 PSI on idle ??
