Blimey......where did two years go?

Nothing much to report in reality bar changing the starter out. Had all the symptoms that sounded like a sticky, soon to be dead unit.
Upgraded to a powermaster for a bit better longevity.

Put it on...same issue. Turns out I'd lost some cells on the battery. Fully charged, it doesn't happen. So new battery on the list.

Well after a decent break, the next stage begins. I've been collecting minor parts over 2020 but nothing of real significance, but now the big plans for 2022.

Motor time.......😎

First big piece of the jigsaw has been procured.

Next update..... Picked up some Challenger seats of Matt at the Nats so decided to get them in today. Recon I could do it in 4 hours........7 hours later. 🤣

Lost is messing around to get the seat hight correct left to right. Had to drill the floor pan for the additional bolts for the buckets, which is always nerve racking. Overall happy but have a query I will post else where.

Decided to check out what morning from a bench to buckets would do for the car. Weight saving is just under 20kg.

49.4kg vs 15.4 (30.8)

That's great Dave.....a huge weight saving really with just a simple swap (relatively speaking).

If its worth doing, it's worth doing twice. Strengthening plates measure and ordered to fill the recess and a large plate to offset from the factory hump.

Well HRDs weekend was 250 miles and 2 runs deep. Car behaved very well and the Challenger seats are great long distance seats. Very soft and comfortable.

Big test was changing to electric fan. Lots of watching the gauge over the trip with average air temps in the low 20s. Hit 200, fan on back down to 185, so happy that it can look after itself full time.

So seats saved nearly 20kg and the removal of the static fan,
according to Engine masters could add circa 30HP at high RPM. I'll take 15 to 20 as mine doesn't go above 5k. I should add at this stage that I'm carrying some 'Covid' weight and nearly 1st heavier than my last runs in 2019. The above are the only changes.

Last run was 15.58 @ 87.35 mph in 2019.

First run fluffed the gears and shift light changing past 5.2k rpm when the car nosed over.

Second run got the shifts bang on but was deep in the beams and don't think I had the throttle buried.

I could of done with 5 runs like I did last time, with the aim of a few consistent times and putting it all together. Oh well.

Honestly i think the car has a 15.1 in it, maybe could even sneak a 15.0, just ran out of track time. 😭

The next stage should be the engine change and maybe drop into the 12s. That being said parts availability may mean it takes longer to do, so the current setup may get one last hoorah.

Time will tell.........

Well done Dave. You are doing very well and it's great to see your knowledge and skill improving as you get deeper into the car. What's is your ultimate plan with the potential engine swap etc?

Cheers Steve :thumbright:
